I am located in England and have been an interested "watcher" on this site for some time and am pleased that there is a site dedicated to the heritage of Diana/RWS/Original air rifles.
I have just added a new 54 Airking recoiless to my collection of an Original 27 and a 31 Panther.
The 27 had the TO1 3 ball trigger mechanism and the 31 has the new TO5 sear trigger. Both of these have a single adjustment screw which alters the amount of travel before feeling the second stage movement. The new 54 also has a TO5 single screw adjustment.
I have seen various tigger types with 2 adjustment screws and wonder if these are the "Match" models that do away with the factory set second stage and allow fine adjustment to make the second stage lighter or heavier?.
Was this only available on the TO1 model or is there another trigger (just the tigger itself not the whole mechanism) that can be fitted to the TO5 unit.
If it is not possible to source a factory made 2 screw trigger what is the view on tapping a second screw into the unit and removing the existing second stage operating pin?
Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. The issue of the new T05 trigger has come up a few times here. As you have seen the T01 had the two adjustment screws, have heard of tapping another hole in the trigger blade of the T05 . The T05 trigger blade is not interchangeable with the older T01, they both are very similar though, in fact both upper and lower hooks on the T01 and 05 I beleive might be the same part numbers. Basically so far tapping and installing a extra screw for adjustment is all I have heard of doing to the new T05 triggerblade, how well it works and so forth don't know for shure, it should provide results in adjustment just like the T01, without having tried this myself I could not say how well it works at this time.
It looks as though a custom solution is needed. I will buy another trigger and screw and modify it by tapping a thread directly where the moulded-in pivot pin is located in the original trigger.
If it works I will post some pictures and comments, if it does'nt I will let the forum know.
