After a shoot today w/ my Cros. XX,S, I remember how FUN airpistols are! Im going to order a P5 & would like any info you guys have on it,ie. fps./fpe. accuracy, shootability ect. Im thinking I could make some wood grips, tune it & get "Chalie" to make me a custom m. break & have a REALLY COOL springer Diana pistol! Would love to hear from anyone w/ hands on exp. w/P5. Thanks,Tim.
I believe Mr. Disco has one. I am thinking this will be the next gun I buy. I have asked Mr. Disco to review, but he is busy researching the new Discovery.
One of the two most potent factory springer pistols -

the other being the Beeman P1/Weihrauch HW45. Costs half what
the Weihrauch costs new. Comparing the two in power - both
'healthy' in .177 deliver about the same punch. Both capable
of decent sporter springer pistol accuracy - some say they
find the Diana a little easier to shoot well. Both good quality
German air pistols.
My first RWS G5 Mag/Diana P5 Mag .177 shot RWS Hobbies 580ish
fps MV. The second one just over 500 until I shimmed the breech
seal o-ring with DIY cardboard shims (2) and that brought it up
to about the same power level as the first. IIRC Crosman CPLs
(Crosman Premier Lights) would shoot 540ish fps MV.
I've owned 2 Diana P5 Ms .177 and 4 P1/HW45s .177/.20/.22.
So in .177 low 5s FPE. Seated/rested I've shot dime sized groups
with factory sights and with a barrel clamp-style mounted red-dot
sight (Millet SP-1 3 MOA). 12-16 oz. cans are doable, plinkable
at out to 50 yds. without much difficulty.
I think of the Diana P5 Mag as a pistol version of the Diana 24.
Sweet rifle - I've owned both a .177 and .22. The .177 was a carbine
or 24c and I cut the .22 24 down to carbine.
Thanks Dave. Available info on the Discovery is still,"pretty thin" So maybe "Disco"? will get bored & reply soon! That P5M looks REALLY good to me,AGAIN! Gift cards from Xmas are burning the prov. hole in pocket! SHURLY someone out there has some feedback?? Good shootin Dave,Tim.
Airbethere: Thanks so much for your REAL WORLD info on P5M pistol! Pretty much what I expected, I guess a tune to get 600+ fps. w/ CPL. (7.9) would turn it into a hand held Patriot & lose all inherent accuracy! Im still sold. What a good looking Diana pistol! Ya gotta love grab & go springers! I know Im pushin it, but out to about 10-15 yrds. I think Ill be using mine on "TALIBAN" sqirrels! Thanks for really helpfull info Airbethere. Tim. P.S. did you use some type of Cros./Ben./Sher. intermounts for red dot?? Tim.
had come up with barrel clamp mounts that he and Charlie daTuna ( Bob W. )
were selling from Bob's website. They fit a variety of guns/barrels.
As you may know the factory use to make a mount. Also Jay Axelrod has
made some but I don't know if he still does. Haven't been to his website
in awhile.
Airbethere: Thanks! At the time?? Does this imply you have lost interest in your Diana P5, or it has fallen from grace in your eyes for some reason, or like me your focus is on other guns now no fault of the P5? Some of my guns get very little attention at times just cause Im playin w/ new ones! My revisit of some of my Cros. XX,S today was fun! It was just barely 60 Deg. & they performed admirably. CO2,, The Guns of Summer! Thanks Tim.
Herb, I am seriously considering the P5 to be my next investment. Seems like the fitting thing to do if you are a RWS fan. I have never read anything negative about the gun, minis scope issues. Everytime I think about the next gun I want, it always comes back to the P5, even though I have never been much of pistol shooter.n Thanks for the info.
i bought one about a month ago and i have shot it about 400 times at 16 yards in a indoor range and it will hold a quarter size group on a rest . it does not seem to be fussy about pellets . i have used beeman wadcutters and crosman doom lights and heavys and all have done well. i had a issue with the front sight. i like to have a 6 oclock hold on target. but i could not do this with out the front optic covering up the bulls eye. i ended up shaveing the optic holder off of the front sight and now i can see the target with a 6 oclock hold . i do not think im the only one to have had this problem.i do have a intrest in this scope mount if you have the web page i would like it. umarex wanted 60 dallors to remove the rear sight and install a scope rail which did not seem like the way to go.marvin
