Harry, what a deal, you can get your wife the Bra, and the Rojo goggles to shoot crows at night. Please send us some pics! God! You guys are a riot! LOL!!
Herb, I have warned you about quitting your day job. Your view of a discount is getting a little kinky. You might want to lay off of the Geritol for a few days. I mean "BOLT PROBE",
"HOT SHOT IN THE BUTT" "CROSMAN UNDERWEAR" all in a few lines. I think the rest of these clowns that think this is funny, really need to get out more! Are you guys snowed in together?
Do any of you recall the ads with pics of the Benjamin 3030
CO2 BB rifle that were in Boys Life, Field & Stream, etc.
years ago? Stated the rifle could shoot BBs through both
sides of a 5 gal. steel pail at close range.
I love it when Dave starts taking everything personally whenever someone talks about a Chinese gun in anything but a praising and exhilerating tone.. And je is now calling us "clowns"!!
Keep at it Herb, good job! Dave doesn't need to job every morning, you get his blood flowing!
Do those Discounts come with a big bore 9mm or .45? No? I guess .25 is going to have to do with that cork thumbhole thingie. Do I need to cork screw to operate this gun?

Actually Harry, you seem to be the one bent out of shape. I was actually getting a kick out of you guys and the way you three are so worked up over the Discovery. I really could care less one way or the other. I think you need to quite worrying about the Discovery and just worry about getting the guns you do have to work. In the meantime continue wearing the Rojo goggles. They certainly work better than your scope on your 350, and while you are holed up for the winter, enjoy shooting your new 850 while you continue to knock a gun that has not even hit the streets yet. Your constant and consistent knocking of Chinese or American made guns is getting old. Especially since your new German manufactured rifle is dribbling out pellets right out of the box. Nothing personal, I am LOL! Let us know when you get your 850 back. Good Job Harry!
very funny Dave. Show me the posts where I 've been knocking the Discovery. All I 'm doing is questioning a couple of things here and there. I just ask questions and made a couple of speculations. I 'm not worked up over the Discovery at all. I have a lot more important things to worry about. I 'm hoping it's all that it's cracked up to be so I can buy one. You and maybe 2 other people that pre-ordered it are all worked up over it.
If anything I am a little worked up over this stupid 850 that you recommended. Should not have listened to you to buy it. Thanks for the advice buddy!! It's all your fault!
I had no idea it was made by 3 different companies. That's bullcrap.. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it 's a crapshoot getting a good one. Should have done my research better. I thought it was a solid gun. It's probably Umarex's fault. They probably cut corners in QC to keep the retail price down to under $200, and went shopping around in Germany to see who would build the gun cheaper. That's just a guess, but it's definitely someone's fault that lets leaky guns slip by to the customers.
I hope you do better than me with your Chinese Eureka (ie: Discovery!)

Harry, I am sorry about your 850 "f"ing up right out of the box. But hey! I love my 850, BUT, if I remember correctly, I told you not to buy the 850, because you love the power thing so much! In fact! (I will look up the e-mail later) I told you that the 850. was not for you and only good at about 30 yards. In fact I said "Do not buy the 850, but jump in with both feet and buy a high powered PCP!". I know you, and knew the 850 is not for you, any more than a 10 meter rifle is. I going to try and find the e-mail now. To be quite honest with you Harry, I think the "Discovery" would be a better gun for you than the 850.
Yea, the three companies thing is a little weird. Certainly one of the companies is not going to have the quality control as the others. I was wondering why Roald was wanting that info on the 850 website last month. I sincerely hope you resolve your issues with the 850. What a bummer to have to send a new gun back after waiting so long.
Good Luck
I like the 850 a lot and also bought it so my wife can use it as well. She can't handle the heavy 350 after a few minutes. The more I get it involved, the more airguns I 'll be able to get. I was starting to like it and love the 8-shot magazine (when it doesn't jam pellets). Having a couple of loaded clips ready to pop them in is what I like. I will get it fixed and get back to shooting it. I didn't buy this guy to hunt with, although many guys on the 850 forum are taking rabbit & squirrel and other game with it to 30yds. Afterall it is a 12FPE gun w/14.3gr in 75deg. weather and everyone down South is having a ball with it. The spring hammer mod everyone is doing also adds power but that's not too important to me with this gun.
The .22cal has plenty of power (compared to .177) for close range hunting and hits pretty hard but that's not what I got it for. The CP's even with the leak at ~540-550fps MV still penetrate the wooden log well at 20yds. You can barely see the back of the skirt, which is not to say sticking out, but well into the wood by 1/8" or more. That 'll do more than fine for squirrel at that range, and if I can get the gun to shoot at 600-610fps with CP's like they 're telling me it should be at stock, then it can make a competent hunter if I want it to.
Once it gets a scope, the 850's intend is do a little Starling and sparrow duty now and then but plinking and target shooting is its primary role, and if the occasional squirrel shows up at my 20yd target as it has in the past, it will be meat on my neighbor's plate with me as a dinner guest He went coyote hunting with his son this morning but they were getting cold and came back early with 2 squirrels his son got with his .22LR. He just called and invited me over later to try out some squirrel meat. He has them in ice water or something now until they 're ready for the pot
