What glass would you recommend on a HW80K .22 and a RWS 34.22? Anyone used the RWS 3x9x40mm Night Pro illuminated reticle? Not sure I need a big variable for 40 yard shooting although I like the idea of an illuminated reticle? No interest in Tasco or Simmons[same factory]seen failures in both brand new! Will be using 1 piece mounts on both guns.Mostly for hunting and plinking.......Hawke makes a MAP reticle that has 12ft lb .22 guns regulated with a series of crosshairs out to 45 yards that will work for the 34 but the Hw80 has more power.......Thanx Harold

I've got a GIII BugBuster

January 26 2008, 11:12 PM

and as of now haven't even turned the recticle on for any shooting . Way too much glare for my eyes (at lowest setting?!! )I do like the mildots though .
Honestly you'd be surprised at how much you'll like the 6x + powers after you start using them even at "only" 40 yds max.
I vote Bushy Legend 5-15 for higher power or Hawke 2-7 for lower power .

The only thing I'm leary of is pellet point of impact changing with different scope settings ie: 3x 6x 9x.Seen this in cheap Tascos and Simmons with centerfires.Actually had crosshairs fall out on the first box of shells!Would the mil-dots be different as power is changed?the 6X bugbuster would be perfect except they recommend 2 piece mts and I've been advised to use 1 piece on my HW80K/.22 .Too bad the tube wasn't an inch or so longer.I think I'll get a Hawke with the MAP feature for my son's 34 as these are regulated for the 12 ft.lb .22 but the stadia bars would be off in a full powered HW80.Everything is Chinese these days.Leapers has a limited lifetime warranty that when I called for clarification was even vager as too what was the definition of Limited?Musta got a Lawyer?I'll get this sorted before the gophers reappear this spring!Thanx Harold

Look no further than the one piece cantilevered BKL 253 as it fits the BB perfectly .

I chose it because 1)it fit  2) helped achieve the correct eye relief and 3) It's a BKL - s'be solid

RWS Scopes

January 27 2008, 8:47 AM

Harold: I have a 3-9x44 Night Pro w/ 30 mm. tube& Accurest 1 pc. mount on my 54. (shimmed rear under scope w/alum shim). Set up has worked great for over 1k shots. I LOVE this scope! Ill. ret. is great for low light. For a lower cost scope I dont think you can beat it! Also for what its worth its pretty big & very impresive looking on my 54, may look a little big on, say, a 34? (the one I have also has A.O.) Good luck! Tim.

Does that BKL mt have a recoil pin located in the right place? Is it installed backwards for proper eye relief? Good to hear the RWS scope is a solid unit I may try one.Thanx Harold

RWS Scopes

January 27 2008, 11:55 AM

Harold: RE. Bug Buster scopes. When I get a new 34 to replace the one I so STUPIDLY sold, I will pull out all stops to come up with a mount like Rick shows above! I LOVE the Bug Buster! A great little scope at a FANTASTIC price! VERY durable& very WELL built. Mine is now on my friends Gamo & I wish I never sold it to him! My 460 could not break it!! (that,s a testament to the durability of Leap. T.S. scopes!) I have not exp. change of POI. w/change in mag. power,,But, recently,(ongoing), have been battling POI. change w/ differant A.O. settings! Even though I feel pretty consistant w/ my "spotweld" it seems that these issues are directly related to eye off axis,ie. "spotweld". Yes, for my best groups at 50 yrds. Ill set for aprox. that range,,, (eliminate most parralex) But for real world hunting accuracy,, I still opt for my proven (for me) "set it & forget it" 30 yrd. A.O. setting. Good luck w/ your scope Harold!! I hear some crows outside, gotta go now!! Tim in S.C.

Harold , The BKL's are designed so as not to need a stop pin . Degrease the rail and mount tighten to 38-ish ft lbs , you're done. Yes the 253 is mounted "technically" backwards . Haven't noticed any difference in groups though

RWS Scopes

Rick: Clean scope set up! W/ only 2 base screws, have you had any mount movement?? Even w/ 4 "bolt" main I have had movement even w/ stop pin! What is BKL ?? Name brand?? My exp. w/ Diana scope mounting issues (like others) has been hit or miss. I mostly hit now, but a miss is understandable, considering the complecitys of a PROPER scope mount for a Diana gun. Short term, yeah long term,,NO. Sounds to me like I must review your post! Any "2 bolt mount" warrents great attn. from any Diana owner! (without stop pin!?) Thanks Rick,Tim.

BKL

January 27 2008, 3:03 PM

http://www.bkltech.com/  you can order direct , but you may be waiting awhile .

http://straightshooters.com/navagationpages/mountselections.html  in stock here .

Prices are the same and they ship fast .

As far as scope movement - nope . Not going to say it won't/can't happen but I have Not experienced it with BKL mounts . If movement is a concern the 260 , 260D4 or 260D7 are your best choices . They also require 4" of mountable scope ( compact will not work) . No stop pins at all .

Re: BKL

Thought if a guy was going with the Bugbuster you could use a two piece double strap with a stop pin and if it would fit, a scope stop behind the front ring?Is this overkill on a HW80K.22? i don't trust the RWS mount system to use anything other than a reg sized scope on a BKL260-7D.......Harold just me?

do NOT order from BKL

January 27 2008, 6:04 PM

directly!! I 've been waiting 2mos for my BKL 260 D7. I sent them an e-mail a few weeks ago and said cancel my order, and they sent me an e-mail asking me if I want the D4 or D7 mount! That was about 2 weeks ago but in the mean time I ordered it from Straight Shooters which finally had them in stock. BTW, I sent BKL 4-5 e-mails asking what the status of my order is and never got a reply.

Don't do it. They 're a manufacturer & wholesaler at the same time. They are not equipped to take retail orders and they have absolutely NO customer service. You can't get through on the phone# they provide on their web site which is for dealers only.

Oh you can do that Harold

January 27 2008, 6:30 PM

The eye relief of the BB *needs* a cantilever mount - at least for me it does . You can also get extended rings and a scope stop .
