What's most important to you in the "airgun forums world"?

For me it's "Airgun Truth". I want the facts, the truth about
the guns, scopes, etc. I want the truth about a crooked dealer,
tuner, airgunner, etc. I want the good, the bad and the ugly or
simply the truth, the facts.

Next to the most important is the communication, chatting with
other airgunners. That's generally, usually enjoyable.

If there were no forums I would still enjoy my airguns. I like
airguns and shooting them.

Of course some truths or facts are easier to get at than others
and then there are views, opinions, preferences, etc.

Some guys will have a gun(s) that they sent to a popular pro tuner
3,4 years ago to be tuned and still haven't gotten it/them back
and won't post, won't tell us. They haven't been able to contact
the pro tuner for a few years yet they won't post, won't tell us.
They probably figure they'll get ganged up on and maybe even banned.
That's just one example of not telling the truth, not sharing the
truth, the facts.

Myself I have put no airgun manufacturer, airgun dealer, airgun
tuner, airgunsmith, airgun champion shooter, airgun forum owner,
airgunner up onto a pedestal to be worshipped, butt kissed, etc.
I ain't afraid of the heat, the dirty tricks, the ban, etc.

I'm being positive - right?

Herb

If I get the chance I would like to be able to help fellow airgunners

You know, sort of the blind leading the blind?

I really enjoy the writing. Telling the stories of my hunts and culls. Also, there are some characters in this sport/hobby. A tight knit group in many ways.

Its always fun to decipher the thinly veiled jabs and put-downs. They're pretty consistent from forum to forum.

Kinda like a good coach.....

January 29 2008, 1:20 PM

that just wants each member of the team to get with it and do
his/her best. Sometimes the coach can be a bit hard on a team
member. Kinda like the stories of Zen Masters thumping a monk
on the head with a wooden staff.

A sense of community is most important to me...

January 29 2008, 8:02 PM

when it comes to forums. The fact is that the airgun world is a minority and one that is under increasing pressure from the anti-gun groups and the public in general. Misunderstanding seems to be the key factor in this.

We need to boost those who are just joining our ranks and educate those who aren't so we can continue to enjoy this hobby or sport. Inflating the capabilities of an individual or a gun is a disservice to everyone. If everyone comprehended the effects on the community some of their statements or actions might have, I wonder if they would continue to act the way they do.

That said, I have had my own lapses in judgement in dealing with members of the airgun community but, I like to think that I make efforts to keep my eye on the big picture.

Probably TMFI but that's my take on it.
