Try shimming the breech seal....

January 29 2008, 10:35 AM

with a cardboard (Xmas card, etc.) shim or two. Punch the hole with
a paper punch and use small scissors or knife to cut to size/fit.
Pull breech seal, clean recess or seal seat, place shim(s) and
reinstall breech seal.

If that works as you may know you can purchase a 4 pack of breech
seals from Gamo USA. May need to shim a new one too.

Airbethere: THANKS SO much! I think you are right! Last night I dis. & re. assembled gun again, everything looked in perfect order. Same GREAT deviation in vel.. Then I noticed the (O-Ring?)/ breech seal has some damage. I have never removed this seal on any of my guns & figured it was "glued" in? What holds it in?? Great advice! I think this has to be it! (everything else is in perfect working order). Im goin to pull that baby out now! Thanks Airbethere! Tim.

It's not glued in -

January 29 2008, 2:17 PM

just an o-ring and easy to pop out using a pin, pick, finger nail.
There may be a factory shim or two under it. The metric o-rings
can be had for .50+/- a few cents at a hardware/auto parts store.

I'm getting the Diana/Gamo mixed up -

January 29 2008, 2:22 PM

I don't know if the Recon breech seal is just an o-ring. Try turning
the damaged Recon breech seal over and still try the shimming too.

Now, some shims& a J.M. spring--- 550 fps.?? Others tried to help,, my other site,NO one even responded! Thanks Herb!! This is a Great site,W/ airheads like myself,Thanks guys!P.S. I now know it is not an o-ring,but a longer version! WOW! Thanks Herb youve made my day! Tim.

The guys waiting on their Benji Discos....

January 29 2008, 9:11 PM

don't think I'm so great! LOL

Actually I think they are probably, most likely getting a pretty
good deal in the Benji Disco right out of the box. The gun really
didn't need to be hyped, over advertised with to good to be true
claims.

Glad you got the shot to shot MVs "tightened up"!

Herb

Herb to go down in History

January 30 2008, 6:35 AM

If the Benji is a success, it will probably always be called "Disco" a named coined by our fellow Dianawerk poster Herb! I can just picture it now, years later the Blue Book 10th edition is published and it features the Benjamin Discovery! aka "DISCO"

GOOD SHOOTING HERB!

Disco name was out first on Crosman forum

But that aside. Herb knows his guns and is a great source of knowledge. My only truck with him comes when he baits folks with posts that are intended to ruffle feathers.

"but I'll be needin' that gun, fer squirrels and such."

Yes the Yellow Circus -

January 30 2008, 5:09 PM

although there were and are still some decent solid fellas
that enter/post/indulge in the YC. I'm permanently banned
from there but can - these days - still enter and read. I
do so occasionally.

Yep I think I first saw "Disco" used on the....

January 30 2008, 5:02 PM

Crosman Forum. I didn't come up with it.

Bill - as I'm sure you know - I've takin' a lot of 'heat'
over the years for simply stating BS to this or that claim,
attempting to expose/go after a con artist, crook, etc. I
would often get attacked, insulted, threatened, dirty tricked,
etc. and in return I'd dish some out too. Some guys would make
a hobby of messing with me and still years later continue to
do so. Guess it's kinda put me into a semi-Rambo mode when I
stroll through airgun forum land.

I'm done tormenting the 'Discoists' - I really have nothing
against the rifle. It seems, appears it could turn out to be
a good deal and good airgun. Heck I may check one out myself
like I've done with other non-springers the last few years
even though I'm a serious springer fan.

"Tormenting the 'Discoists"

January 31 2008, 4:03 AM

Herb, you do not have to be "done" with tormenting the Discoist. Heck, that is half the fun. Sounds like the Yellow guys don't like a heated argument. Now, your comment that you may become a Discoist, is enought to blow my mind. But! I believe miracle's do happen each day. Heck, the story of Scrooge is one of my favorites Now, I was so happy to hear of your transformation, that I logged on to the Crosman website accessory section to order you a new Crosman Hat! But unfortunately, they said they did not have one big enough to fit your head. I guess we will have to special order one for ya.

Good Shooting!

Herb
