onto the dealer's shelf and into an airgunner's hands/possession?!
When it comes to airguns that cost over a few hundred to a couple
thousand bucks and that are listed/aimed at an adult buyer/user
IMO there should be very, very few that have functioning defects
and more serious and obvious problems right out of the box new.
Some - including pro-tuners, airgunsmiths, dealers - will try to
smooth it over, make excuses, etc. for the manufacturer.
Cars, airguns, scopes, chain saws, etc. - I simply don't want
crap, junk, POS stuff, etc.
So many state HW makes great barrels - that's just wonderful. So
why not make sure the rest of the gun is great too! Same can be
said for Air Arms, Diana, etc.
Sure I'll pay more for it if that's what it takes. At least if
I get a really decent product I have truly gotten a good deal.
Maybe there should be a "tinkerers special" label on the box of
some airguns. The manufacturers could even have tuning/repair/upgrade
booklets and the decent parts for sale so the tinkerers can over time
transform the crappy gun into a ok to fairly decent airgun. Crosman
just popped into my mind!
One time I bought a Theoben SLR 98 ($1100+) and it required 2 trips
to an airgunsmith/pro-tuner right out of the box new!
I totally agree. I mean look at me, I get back into airguns, spend 500 bucks so that I can get a great rifle (RWS 460) and here I am out 38 bucks in shipping it twice back to MFR for repair. What the hell? I can see maybe once, but twice. I thought you were supposed to get what you paid for. The thing about it is that I do not even get an apology for MFR.
My two cents.
