Been shooting cpl's die #7 for a while, excellent groups, less than 1/4" ctc @ 10 yds. Got a couple boxes cpls die #1 recently and my 34 will not group with them. More than 1/2" at 10 yds. Tried RWS hobby, super point, super dome, super H point, cp pointed and cp hollow point. All group 1/2" to 3/4" @ 10. Went back to cp die #7, .18" 5 shots @10!
The 7's are running low. Any suggestions? What shoots well in your 34?
Thanks
jeff

CP die # 1 and 7

January 31 2008, 1:51 AM

been reading at other forum's about the difference between die #1 and 7, seems like #1 does not have the same MAGIC as the 7, could be a QC issue

if Crosman does not correct this ASAP some die hard airgun shooters are going to migrate to another brand

I have two 34's in .177 cal.One likes JSB Exacts the other RWS Superdomes.A friend has one that likes JSB Express.what I am getting at is pellet testing is the only way to tell the tell of what your rifle likes.I am testing the Gamo hunter pellets now ,they show some promise, just have to wait for the weather to get better 15 degrees and wind 20 to 25 mph is to much for thes old bones.Hope this helps,Gary

what???

January 31 2008, 8:45 AM

Wait so now Crosman finally got off the die#7 and went on to die#1 that can't shoot at all? They are so retarded. Don't they shoot any of these or check them? I will not buy another Crosman product - that's how I feel right now. My 350 shoots best with CP's too.

Where did you buy them from Jeff, so I can avoid that place?

Are you sure it's #1 and not #7? 1 & 7 can look similar.

M34 pellets

LOL what caliber of 34? I have 34's in .177 .20 and .22 but I figure you have a .177 mine loves Beeman kodiaks as it's first choice and Beeman Silver Bear's as it's second. I have found that all my various model Diana's in .177 love the Silver Bears.

Hope this helps.

Jeff, 177 or 22? CP are pretty much a good all around pel. as we all know. If your 34 is 177, mine loved CP. heavys (10.5 gr.)& also Kodiaks. If 22, mine liked CPL,,, but for some reason LOVED Gamo Hunters! It was the best shooting airgun Ive owned in 2 years with them! (I wish my friend would sell it back to me!!) Good luck Jeff! Tim.

Crosman pellets in die #1, avoid them

January 31 2008, 3:19 PM

they are not the same as die #7, crosmans web site is OUT OF STOCK on the #7 and for $17.00 per 625 ea. in 14,3 gr. they do not even have the #1

IF you have or can order pellets in die #7 consider yourself LUCKY

I have searched in the internet from east to west and north to south for #7 to no avail, will start making phone calls to every air gun shop to get them and will stock up with maybe $200.00 on this die

I might not have to buy another pellet in .22 for the next 10 months but so what if I get DIE #7

Has anyone had any succsess w/ RWS. sup. pnts in 177? I have yet to find any gun over 500 fps. that will shoot them accurate. They look to be VERY well made. Even Silver Stings,& other pointed pells. seem in-accurate in my guns over about 500 fps.? Super Pnts. in 22 cal are by far the best w/ my 2260,(co2 w/B&A Boss valve),54 seems to be able to live w/out them! I bought 2 tins,Umarex sent me 2 tins,2000 pels. (177), WANTING to be shot! Ill save you the typing,, Ill shoot them in my pistols!! Must be some inherent inaccuracy of pointed pells.? At this point I must say Domed Pels. rule for accuracy! (wads for close). Of course I know most here only shoot "BIG BOY 22 cal.).Even you big name guys here must admit to ownership of at least ONE 177 cal.! Yeah, Herb, Harry,Warren, Airbethere, &others here I cant think of now, ADMIT it,you probly still have a lowly 177!! (we probly all started w/ one!!) I love to stay on the edge of getting banned from site! Airgun ADDICTED in S.C.,TIM. P.S. You guys are great, It seems we ALL love airguns & are willing to help each other& newcomers alike!! Great Shooting to All!,Tim

Cp's

January 31 2008, 5:59 PM

Warren, what is wrong with the pellet in Die#1 which has been used for years? I am going to contact Crosman tomorrow, about the Die? Or you talking about a particular "batch"? Or are you saying that every pellet ever produced by Die "1" is bad? What date stamped on the box is bad? We really need more info here please.
Thanks and

Good shooting!
Dave@vabch.

Ps Warren, if you like you can send me some of the bad ones and let me put them in my gun and do a velocity test.

Re: Cp's

January 31 2008, 6:29 PM

Thanks for all the responses. My 34 is .177. I believe the current run of CPL's (.177) die #1 is a new die. As I said, the pellet quality appears to be excellent, however the diameter is a thou or so smaller than die #7.
Apparently #7 is retired because no one seems to have any more. Will try some of your suggestions for other brands, it's just that my 34 is ridiculously accurate with #7 CPL's.
Thanks again
jeff

The die is not retired!

Per Tom Gaylord, please wait until Feb. 14th for more info on this subject. I will be contacting Crosman Marketing tomorrow and requesting them to issue a statement. I think I will get this and we can all get to the bottom of this issue. Crosman CP's are a great, and I mean great pellet with a lot of loyal fans.

let us know Dave!

January 31 2008, 9:00 PM

I was getting ready to place a fairly large order of pellets today (dang 850 has me going through my current stock very fast, hehehe) including 2-3 boxes of CP's but now I 'll wait. What are people saying on the "other" (yellow) forum about die#1? This definitely needs more looking into.

BTW, I have found a lot of tiny .22 CP's in this last box I got about 2mos ago. The box I got in late August was fine. Maybe 1 or 2 had a slightly bent skirt or not too round. I threw a couple out. Now this last box from November which I 'm almost done with, had about 30-35 tiny little ones that looked like .177 or .20cal! That's 5% or more of the box! So Crosman owes me money If I 'm not paying attention and load these smaller ones into the 350, it sounds like I 'm dry firing the gun, very LOUD! I also had 3 or 4 fall right through the 850's magazine as I was loading them! So this last "batch" or whatever you want to call it of die#7, hasn't been that great either, and it seems they are getting worse if what I 'm hearing now is accurate about Channel #5, humm CP #1 I mean

crosman pellets

February 1 2008, 12:30 AM

I have confirmed the con-census of other forums about the crosman pellets in die #1 vs 7

they are definetely not the same in metal and QC, the D-1 pellet shines more than the 7 when you open the box (diferent metal composition), some of the D-1 DO NOT have the sqirt diameter of .220. that is why some of them slide thru the breech, they are less than .220, close to .210 (that is a QC) issue

out of the box of D-7 (625 ea.) Oct 04, 2007, I would find maybe 15 deformed or other bad pellets. on the D-1 (625 ea.) Nov 11, 2007 I had more than 75 irregulars with the rest being close to .220 skirt in diameter, maybe I got a bad box, who knows. still that is WAY to many BAD pellets, more than 10%

on the crosman web site they sell only two kind of pellets in .22 cal the Field Target Premier for $17.95 (625 ea,) OUT OF STOCK as of yesterday and the Hollow Point Premier (500 ea.) tin can for $9.99

interesting that they are out of stock in the .22 cal, maybe they do not want to compete with their resellers even at $17.95 a cardbox OR something is going on, what? I do not know

Die 7 is still in production but Die 1 will overtake sales eventually, it's just a matter of time. unless they fix the problem with die #1 crosman will get a bad rap on this pellet

and by the way, other people say the same about #1 in other forums, I am not the only one. bottom line, why take a chance with #1 when you know #7 is a proven die

In the next couple of days I will be talking to Crosman about what you have mentioned ans well as sending all of this up to Tom Gaylord. Can you please compose everything you have complaints about and put them in a easy to read format or list like:

1) Lot #1 dated May 5, 07 shines more than other dies

Harry, if you or anyone listening could do the same, then we can issue a report to Crosman and Gaylord, who will be talking on this issue.

Thanks

CPL's in 0.177 and CP's in 0.22

February 1 2008, 8:07 AM

I have CPL's 0.177 in Die #7 as well as #1. I have 2 guns that shoot the best with the CPL even over the H&N FTT pellet in 4.51 head diam.

I have noticed that regardless of the die on the CPL's that if the head diameter is less than 0.1775" it fits loose I see the head (not skirt) dims in the 0.175" - 0.176" range on the die 7 and 1 that were bad. With old #7 die earlier date of manuf. I had 0.178" head diameter and in both my HW50S and Beeman R7 they needed to be pushed gently into the breach. On the bad lots with head of 0.175-0.176" they fall in to the breach stopping on the skirt alone.

I have noticed the same with the 0.22 CP's but have not measured as much.

Could the Dies themselves be fine but the size or supplier of the round balls that are fed to the dies be the problem? Who knows except maby Crosman! I don't care I just want them to know that the undersized pellets don't shoot!!!!
With the undersized CPL's I just can not use them and I have stopped buying them in place of H&N FTT's and JSB's even with poorer group size at 30 yards and much more $$$$. What Can I DO? Hope that Crosman improves QC and corrects the problem!
