Roald, from the 850 forum did this and it is really interesting. I have already met (by e-mail) a fella that lives close by, who also knows another guy that lives to tune guns! If it works out I will get my 34 a new JM spring! Harry, I know you do not live far from Paul the air gun video master!
I live in VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA aka TIDEWATER VIRGINIA,
A small Central Valley community nearly dead center of the State. Primarilly an agriculturial area. Wildfowel and Phesant shooting is the main shooting sport, but airguns are very well accepted!
Also in central california in the central valley. Tons of agriculture around just hard to find people that will let you shoot. But there are good places to hunt especially wild boar.

This post is becoming very popular. May, I make a suggestion. If you see some one nearby, send a e-mail. It has the potential to open up a lot doors, new friends, and lots of great info.
Pugley, Can you tell us about air guns in your country? Do they have different standards on velocity etc? I know you know about German guns, and English guns, but what do you hear about America guns? What do you thing of the new Discovery? What is your favorite gun? I would love to hear about you.
Welcome to this forum of great friends.
Good Shooting!

In UK we have a legal limit of 12Ft/Lbs for our rifles and 6Ft/Lbs for air pistols. There is no limit on muzzle velocity so a 12Ft/Lb .177 tends to be more popular due to it's straighter trajectory at this power. .22 is also popular for vermin and small game but pretty ineffectice at much over 40 yards.
This means that there is lot of interest in bringing air guns up to their maximum potential and accuracy. A sweet 12 foot pounder is a lot more fun than a rough 20 foot pounder, no surprise, I'm sure.
It is possible to have a more powerful air guns but the owner must by law hold a firearms licence, the gun must be registered, kept in a safe and will be inspected by the police regularly. To get a licence you MUST belong to a club for at least 6 months and be supported in your licence application by that club.
These laws came into place in an effort to reduce deaths caused by firearms, unfortunately gun crime is on the increase amongst street gangs who dont seem to care about the licencing regime!!!
I know that in the US you have no restrictions on power or muzzle velocity so are able to tune for best performance without any limits. Let's hope that nobody tries to impose limits on your hobby.
I have an old "Original" 27, a Panther 31 and an Airking 54. To be honest the 54 is my favourite due to its supreme accuracy and build quality, it is a little heavy but I am far more accurate if I take my time and use a rest. An hour of target practice usually leaves me feeling stress free and relaxed.
Wow, the laws and regs. in this country make it easier to by a glock, or other hand gun. Pretty much anybody can go down and have a gun in a couple of days. Thanks for Posting Pugly.
You have some nice guns. We really want to hear more about airgunning in England. How about telling us about your club. How many members, what events to you do etc.
Thanks
SHOOT STRAIGHT LADS, DON'T MAKE A MESS OF IT!

I may be off topic, but does France have any restrictions on airguns like they do in England? or can you buy a powerful .22 or .25cal springer or PCP?
I was e-mailing my cousin in Athens/Greece, and he thinks that .22cal might be illegal these days over there. He says he used to know people with .22cal air rifles many years ago, but he doesn't see any advertised. He will ask a vendor and get back to me. I saw a large hare about 20yds behind his house when I was there in October. I forgot how big they are. Twice the size of a cottontail rabbit. He said he 's seen 2 or 3 at the same time! His house is on some hills on the very outskirts of suburban Athens. There is no firearm hunting allow there, so maybe airgun hunting has not caught up with them yet? I was thinking of shippping him a .22 springer. He can keep it at his house for when I go back again, or have him buy one and reimburse him. I will be going back soon because I have inheritance matters to take care off and other things regarding property (taxes) and such. It would be nice to do a little wabbit hunting while I 'm there in my cousin's back yard no less!
It would also come in handy shooting criminals in the butt. An Albanian tried to pick my pocket in the subway last October! Caught him with this hand in my pocket. He ran before I could swing at him but gave him a good instictive push first.. He flew out the door when the train stopped 2secs later. Hmm maybe I should get a 2250 pistol for that kind of large game They should deport them all.
