I went through this with a couple of my cars that I use for racing. Mod, mod, mod, it never stops! 9yrs now! You just want to mod it more and get a little more horsepower, a little better handling, better braking, etc. All to get that little extra edge over the other guy.. I was buying an entirely new suspension every year while always doing other mods like trying out a new Limited Slip Differential or a new header, or resonated test pipe, some new camber kit that came out, or a lighter aluminum flywheel and so on.. like I didn't buy this stuff already!! Just wanted to try other brands and hopefully something better. It's just crazy the amount of $$ if you think about it.. I could have bought an M3 with the money I spent over the year especially when there is no big payout waiting for you or anything when you win.. A little trophy, your name on the web site, maybe your name metioned in a racing periodical, and a jacket with "champ" and your name on it at the end of the season, and a free dinner at the award banquet.
I 'm cutting back this year. I 'm glad I got the airgun hobby now to keep me a little busy. It's much cheaper than buying aftermarket and race parts for a car. I will cut back on racing too. DOT Race tires (Hoosier) cost me $1,100 a set and that's only for 15" rims. They last about 7-8 autocross events and I usually participate in 25-30 race events a year! I am not including occasional weekend club racing (road racing) at the track that destroy your tires in 2hrs of track time (20min. sessions), ie: 1 day! Forget that, I can spend the $$ on airguns.. yeah that's the ticket!
