Tim, If you sell your gun, I think I would ask more for it. I think this gun will go down as a classic. Don't make a mistake you may regret later.
Good Luck, either way.

The non-Italian, non-Mobster Capish-Warren has spoken
How do we know you 're not in the Irish or Russian mob? I knew a Greek mobster for many years.. he used to buy drinks all the time and always came to the bar with 2 girls and thousands in cash. He was a lietenant or captain and sometimes had a body guard with him.. until there was word that the Italian mob was after him for something he did and he went into hiding or back to Greece. Haven't seen him in over 10yrs. There are many types of mobsters. Which one are you Warren? The airgun mobster!

Don't sell your airgun or you 're selling out Warren!!

Tim:
Do what you feel is right. If you don't like the 460 or the way it shoots, or want a .22cal instead, do it. Go for what will make you happy, not us. It's ok to shoot it with your Glock if you are mad at it
It doesn't bother me what people do with their stuff, and I don't try to tell them what they should do. I will try to help and make suggestions like what I would do.. but I can't accurately tell someone that, unless I 'm in their shoes, and know exactly how they feel or what the situation is.

So?

February 7 2008, 9:00 PM

What happened Tim? Did Rick buy your 460?

I didn't want to tell you this but Rick will buy anything. The wind blows and he buys a gun, and I 'm not talking airguns only.. Rick is gun crazy He doesn't have anywhere to put them so they are like under his bed, in the oven, under the dinning room table, behind the couch, even under the sheets. He sleeps with them! :=)

Just kidding Rick.. You probably have the Maccari 460 full power kit already in the freezer! hehehe

Tim, maybe you can swap your 460 .117 for Rick's new 350 .22? Just a thought.. but I doubt he 'll let any of his guns go though.

RE:What kind of gun

February 7 2008, 9:26 PM

Hi Tim,

I'm sorry you are having probs with your 460. I have one in .177 and like it.
Course I'm dead on sea level + - 6 feet or so. Here's something for you to think about
Walmart has their Daisy 1000s on sale for $74.00. I have one and after a buddy did a lube job and a smoothing of all rough edges and corners and honed the spring cylinder for me, it shoots like an RWS. Here are some chrony numbers I did at essentially sea level.

For 10 shots: Chrony 5 ft in front Temp 70 deg F
7.9g Crosman wad cutters and 8.2 gr RWS superpoint
Low 971.9 ----- 934.1
Hi 1004.0 ----- 984.5
Ave 983.6 ----- 950.3
Spread 32.5 ----- 50.31
Std D 8.54----- 14.31

This is probably closer to advertised speed than the $300+ RWS' and $200+ Gamo's
Pretty good for a $74.00 gun. A 20% loss in speed for the 7.9 g would give 786 ft/sec and a 20% loss on the 8.2 g's would get 760 ft/sec. Still not bad.
Of course I'm assuming the 1000s' are made uniformly when I recommend it. I don't know about that, but I bought another one after my chrony test and am leaving it in the box till something happens to my present one.

You might want to try it just to see if it would do the job you need; at this price you wouldn't have too much to lose.

I hope you guys don't mind me mentioning the 1000s here, but when I saw Tim's dilemma I wanted to let him know about this cheap and I think pretty good gun.
It's surely not an RWS though. I had to take the first one I bought back after a week cause it just locked at half cocked and I couldnt get the barrel to move.

Regards,
Charlie

Charlie, thanks for your post. I think you have me confused w/ someone else! Ihave no problems w/ my 460,other than te fact I cant seem to "give it away!!,, and I live at pretty much sea level myself! Re read my friend! LOL.! Thanks for your serious post w/ heartfelt info. Good info. I dont know what a daisy 1000 is ,,but my self tuned, from Wal Mart G-1 Extreem is "nearly" as good as my stock Diana 34 was! Cros. G-1 $124. my mods inc. muz. break mod makes it a pretty smooth & VERY quiet shooter! I keep an open mind to cheap China guns. Ive been thru MANY China guns & only claim my one G-1,, the others sucked! On the other hand, Ive never shot a Diana that did not really PERFORM!! On a budjet,, I understand, save up for a Diana 34,,you will LOVE it!! Please no offense Charlie,,Tim.

You need to post your 460 .177 for sale on the airgun classifieds since you want to get rid of it so badly. You 'll have a lot more success there. I 'm sure you can even get a little more $ than what you are asking but it should sell fairly quickly for $325. Try it.

Thanks Harry. Rick & I have talked via e-mail,,I will say this ,KRickter is "stand up guy", I respect him for his character & great knowlede of airguns! I still have my 177/460m. & even flipped rear notch sight over (bigger notch) today & I did ok w/ it! I would still like to sell it but am too untrusting to sell online. I only offered it here to you guys (4-H members lol.) because, after following your posts for some time, I feel like I know you guys. Fate of my 460?? Who knows. The local gun shop I purchased it from will take it on consighnment. In the mean time I will say she is real PURDY to look at, and kinda fun w/open sights! Thanks guys! Tim.

"...& even flipped rear notch sight over (bigger notch) today & I did ok w/ it!..."

Shooting the gun is becoming the gun

"In the mean time I will say she is real PURDY to look at"

A modern Diana Classic . Part of owning an upscale airgun is never tiring of the lines.

" and kinda fun w/open sights!"

Now! you're onto to something !! You've learned quickly young padawan .

More likely to get the guns value at a gun auction site . Rather than discount the price too much *just* to get a quick sale I'd think seriously about gunbroker-ing it .
