Thanks,

Harv

I would like to hear of some mods to

February 8 2008, 11:29 AM

Hi Harv, I have a 34s in .22 that is a 38 with a 15.5 barrel
and my one is the old type and has the firebird badge in the end of the grip, it did not have the same foresight as the 38
so thats the first mod, it has a steel spring guide and a steel piston sleeve out of a old type 45 and that makes a big difference to the smoothness and no twang at all I also have two purpose made piston weight washers not a top hat.
I have also sized the piston seal carefully. Lee

Model 34 in .177, 01 07

No mods, dead bone stock. Locktighted fasteners. Good power, smooth cocking, no buzz or twang, sounds like a pneumatic frame nailer. Scoped, Bushy Sportsman 3-9x32.

Just ordered a Macari spring kit for 34. Received a Wagu adjustable stock butt pad, which I think will be great.

.177 Caliber Model 40   (just a "fancy 34" anyway...) Maccari GRT mainspring, Maccari lube, stock Piston Peal, Muzzle Weight removed (lightened and balanced the rifle a LOT!), BSA 3X12 A/O Scope. Trigger laborouslly set via every post I could read and the "trial and error" system with many, many wasted pellets getting the thing set "Just-So".

Results: Very smooth operation, firing sequence and seemed to NOT loose any power with the mainspring swap. Accuracy-wise it ties it with my R-11! Favorite pell is the Crosman CP light. Time and money well spent.

Yes indeed

The 40/GRT combo is a sweet combo . I rate mine with my R7 in shootability. It is *that* easy ...and a bucket load of extra power too!
