The gun shop I bought my 460 from has a 24 that needs "newseals?". I looked at it along time ago & thought it was new,, when I saw price tag sayed needs new seals,I passed. Called my salesman just now & he says gun looks nearly new& breech seal looks good. (he has many airguns & knows) He thinks like me just needs piston seal. I trust this guy. I "beat" him up on $ on my 460 NEW,$450. I remember it to look "new". Some here seem to love the 24, so Im pretty exited!! Price as marked,,,, $87! ( maybee I should neg.??). Told him Ill be there Mon. to look at it & maybee sell my 460. Want to ask you guys-- Is this a good price? If so, who would you rec. for repairs?? Yhea I know Umarex,CDT. ect.,, But want yor preferance. KRickter is the only one here that knows "my" gunshop! WATCHING you Rick!! LOL.! Im pretty exited!! P.S. Ive been into a few cheap springers, w/ pretty decent results. I refuse to get into a Diana untill I learn more. Litteraly, shaking in S.C.,,Tim!

Found a used Diana 24!!

February 9 2008, 2:33 PM

KRickter: Thanks for your reply! I did not want to make a bad purchase w/out consulting here. Read your FIRST reply, & called "Scott" 3 min. till 5, he put my name on it! its MINE Monday!! Ive looked at it twice before, looked to me like a "baby" 34 in mint cond. After your reply,, I did not hesitate, w/ 3 min. to spare,I called Scott & told him to "put my name" on it! I feel REAL good about this one! At first,,2 yrs. ago,I was ALL about airgun power,&power only. My first (adult air gun was a 34) at age 48. Ive had Benny Shers. for many years. That 34 really got me going! Ive been thru MANY airguns in last 2 years, & thought I was "the man",, untill I joined Dianawerks a short time ago. Boy am I still a "newb"!! You refered to Uncle Sam,, He is going to KILL me this year!! (insert wildly crying face!). Im broke!! But,, betcha Ill have a really clean 24 Monday!! (insert smiley devil face!!)! Thanks KRickter! (Insert BIG smile) Tim.

Before "we" get spend happy

February 9 2008, 2:50 PM

At first glance it sounds to be a pretty decent deal ...Now lets get someone with a BlueBook (ahem hint hint attn Dave @ vbch dig that book out please ? ) to give a more educated pricing . A JM seal is about a ten spot fwiw so add that to your total cost as well as some appropriate lubes .

Found a used Diana 24!!

February 9 2008, 3:53 PM

KRickter, upon further investigation I found out this is the last? remaining gun from a collection sold to my shop, estate? Many powder burners & a few airguns. It was obviously very well cared for. (among others). Im shure I can get it for less! If blue book is only $75,Imshure I can get it for that,, I will still pay more! Diana 24 will shurely be better than my current little fun gun (Gamo Ricon, sub 500 fps.)! Ive held it in my hands twice,w/out my reading glasses, it looks new,Ie. stock & bluing. No sighns of wear or rust ect.,,Looked new to me. (Im not that blind!). When did they stop making them?? Is it 500 fps. plus?? (7.9 gr.)? There goes my "power" addiction again! Sorry, to me, it looks like a baby 34 & hope it can tikkle 500 fps.!! Thanks KR.,, Im shure Ill get response on my latest find!Tim.

I've sold a few of these Model 24's

February 9 2008, 4:36 PM

they usually go for $125 up, depending on condition. Maybe a little more if it an older model with the adjustable trigger. Of course, all the ones I sold were in good working order. I would have bought it for $87, a no-brainer.

These are very accurate, easy to shoot, lightweight rifles. Similar to an R-7, but not as nice of a stock or trigger, maybe not finished quite as well either.

Anyway, good find for you.

Good find and price

February 9 2008, 6:01 PM

Leather seal I'm pretty sure. Made up until the late 80's? Get a few drops of silicon oil in there and let the gun sit propped on the stock end for a few day. Shoudl be able to get 600+ in .177 I'd think. The price sounds right if it's as nice as you say.

"but I'll be needin' that gun, fer squirrels and such."

Tim, great price on that 24,and the best part is it'll shoot like brand new with the new seals. Bought mine a few years ago for $125.00 with an RWS scope mounted. Great plinker, light, accurate, easy to cock, no recoil, small size makes it a dream to handle, and just a smooth 'thunk' when I pull the trigger. It shot upper 500's with JSB Match Diablo's last time chrony'd. A little bit heavy on the trigger pull, but nothing that you can't get used to. Easy to fall in love with this gun for all it has to offer in its price range. Guess it's not too hard to tell that mine is on my "keeper" list.
