This is so funny!

February 10 2008, 8:08 AM

I just received my new RWS catalog. Oh, yea, I am a sucker. I paid $8.00. for nothing but a cheap marketing pamphlet that most companies give out for free. Now, I open the FRONT PAGE and what do I see. A letter from the President of RWS running his mouth about a great company and how they are devoted to RWS. Yea, right, and oh by the way Frank, how about giving notice when ya leave town so fast. Damn, the stove is still warm.

wow..

February 10 2008, 9:13 AM

They left town or are using a pseudo-location, nice RWS!! What else are we going to run into? An imaginary "Frank the President" that doesn't exist, and probably a board of directors hiding behind some marketing company counting the cash?

I used to work for Prodigy a long time ago when AOL was just a thought on some corporation CEOs brain that gave birth to it later after copying much of Prodigy' looks and functionality and improving on it. A Prodigy middle-management person made the mistake of sending "canned messages" to their members and signing them them with a name they came up (female) followed by "customer service manager". Well many people called up and asked to speak to this person that did not exist. Boy did they get a lot of people PO'd and bad publicity for that little boo boo.

Trust me. RWS does not want to be contacted by anyone. They want Umarex to take care of the "end-user" base. I guarantee you they do not have a help desk or customer service department answering phones and taking complaints, escalating them to the proper people, etc. This is not a automobile or large food manufacturer like Kraft Foods or General Mills. I 'd be surprised if the had more than 1 person taking calls, if that. Has anyone tried calling that ph#? I bet it's an answering machine that says leave a message, we are comitted 100% BS..

You are Right Harry

Ok, here comes the pure grade bull****. I did call the number. That number no longer exist and guess what the new number is? Want a big laugh? UMRAEX! Now let's see, so there is no website that Big Frank talked about, his phone number is bogus, his fax, is bogus. And he has left his place of business faster than a "boiler room with news that the heat is coming"! Well guys, we just went from the top to the bottom. I guess I should not look for a check in the mail from Ole Frank the Big Guy at RWS for reimbursement for his crummy RWS catalog, I paid $8.00 for. I leave all of you suckers with this:

"IN ORDER TO SERVE YOU BETTER, DYNAMIT NOBEL RWS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET.
OUR PRODUCTS, TECHNICAL SERVICE AND GENERAL INFORMATION WILL BE JUST A FEW KEYSTROKES AWAY. LOOK FOR US A HHTP://WWW.SHOOTERS.COM AS YOU SURF THE NET.

LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, WE PROMISE TO CONTINUE TO STAND BEHIND OUR PRODUCTS 100%.
YOUR QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME AND WE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO ASSURE THT YOU ARE COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH ANY DYNAMIT NOBEL PRODUCT."

Corporate absorption

February 10 2008, 10:34 AM

in 2006 didn't Umarex USA buy out RUAG Ammotec ? I'm willing to bet that you're barking up the wrong tree by bashing Frank for disappearing . Also willing to bet that Umarex  "purchased" the warranty rights and parts distribution channels as well .Meaning the "brand" is now an UmarexUSA venue.   Of course I may very well be wrong ...

I think you 're right Rick!

February 10 2008, 11:32 AM

I read on the Yellow forum a few months ago, that Umarex bought the RWS or the rights to the RWS name. Umarex basically is RWS. There is no parent company RWS anymore that any issues can be escalated to and addressed. Umarex just kept the name. If the buck stops with Umarex, we 're in trouble.. Better hit the Yellow forum and others to see what they say. Maybe some bad publicity is all that's required for Umarex to make some changes and provide better support and customer service satisfaction.

I think what is happening is this: Umarex is selling guns like crazy. Sales have gone up with the new comer 850, as well as the Panther 34, 460 and others. As more new RWS buyer/owners purchase the guns, the spread they word on the Internet, and we know the Power of the Internet.. While they are enjoying increased sales, they have stayed with the same # of support staff, supporting the entire North American RWS client base with the same 2 people: Ryan and Glenn. I 'm sure they have the same ol' gunsmith too without hiring any additional help. You cannot increase your sales by 10% or more without hiring extra people to keep up with demand and the save level of customer service. Times change, airgunning is picking up and growing at a fast rate, and so Umarex must bite the bullet and hire a dang new customer service rep and gunsmith! I guarantee you they are rushing through those gun repairs while they are eating their lunch next to your gun. But "enough is enough" must be defined. When do you send a customer a new gun? After 2 times of attempting to fix it, 3 times, 5X? This is just an indication that they don't have enough people to do the job right. You are getting quantity work out of a few people, not quality. It's probably not the workers' fault as usual. It's management. That's who we need to address. Umarex senior management. Lets face it. Glenn & Ryan are peons. If you have an issue go over their head, and keep going up the ladder. If many people that weren't satisfied after getting their gun back, did this, it would improve service in many ways.

I really do not know!

February 10 2008, 11:48 AM

Rick, I really do not know anything about RWS. Weather this guy Frank actually exist or does not exist is a mute point. At first, I was so stupid to actually believe that a Frank was a real person. I should have known better. I know he did exist at some point. Where he vanished to his beyond me. Somewhere along the way Umarx seemed to take over everything. I guess in the end, it really does not make a whole lot of difference does it? RWS has a life time warranty, just don't call them to honor it, call Umarex.

"RWS has a life time warranty, just don't call them to honor it, call Umarex."

As you should ...because Umarex USA owns RWS now . That was my point of posting the link regarding the sale of RUAG .

Lets say you bought a product with a lifetime warranty 4 years ago from a company. 2 years ago the company was bought out by another. Original company is now defunct. Yesterday you started having issues with lifetime warranted product ...Which company do you contact ? The one no longer in business or the one that bought out that company and all of the product and equipment? Seems like Pretty simple arithmetic .

Wow but no dice

February 10 2008, 4:01 PM

as I understand any company in the US

you have to honor the warranty of the company you buy

you buy the company with it's liabilities too not with the pluses only

lets see, If you but GMC all of it, then you buy the pension plan, 401K and the whole chabang, right

if UMAREX bought all the rights for RWS in the USA from another major shareholder they buy ALL OF IT assets and liabilities

and then what

warren

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
