Recently I have seen posts about pellets from different dies. I have a tin of Crosman Premeirs, how do I identify what die they are from? And what's the difference? TIA
I don't recall the "tins" being marked referring to die #'s . Die references are to the cardboard boxed Premiers . All pellets are swaged with a numbered die until the die is replaced . Its a method of quality assurance - that unfortunately is going away imho .
The "real" Crosman Premiers are the ones that come in the cardboard box in 625ct (.22) or 1,250ct (.177) and say "For Silhouettes & Field Targets" on them and are stamped with red ink that says "Domed pellets" along with the caliber. These are the best pellets Crosman makes. Which ones do you have? The "Premier Hollow Point"? They are not the same "Premier" pellets as the domed. Obviously the much lower price is usually a good indication that you are dealing with 2 very different pellets.

I, and many others, have found the CP hollowpoints to be among the best pellets in several of our airguns. My .177 M34 absolutley loves'em, and they help prevent overpenetration to boot. They actually do mushroom (tested 'em in plumbers putty, came out about 2mm thick and 6mm diameter)... Saturday I was plinking tin cans in the back yard... Scored better than 80% hits at 75yds. Good pellets!
