Know anything about that "big can"?

I am curious about the dimensions, material and construction
of those muzzle weights used on the new 34 and 350 carbines.
Wonder if they're solid or hollow? Sure do look good and I'm
really into the break-barrel carbine with muzzle weight 'thang'.

I should get me a 34 and cut the barrel to 10" and add a fat
muzzle weight. I doubt it'd be any harder to cock than my 12"
barrelled with MW IZH MP513M.

Potent compact lighter weight springer carbines are such handy
dandy plinkin'/pestin'/huntin' tools!

It is a .177 D40 though & Yup! it *is* very easy to cock as well as nice and smooth to shoot . In the 860's w/8.4g Exacts . The .22 Panther will be recieving the same treatment . I'll get some dimensions later after work .

Not sure Rick -

the ones on the new 'carbinized' 34s and 350s look bigger and
different than the R-230-2652 'jobs' sold by RWS/Diana as a
350 muzzle weight. I'm thinking that's the same one on your
D40. Got to go look at the pics again.

Strange thing..

February 11 2008, 10:58 AM

P/A says the cocking effort on the 350 carbine is 42lbs! The regular 350 is 33lbs. Also it seems the Dianas with the muzzle weight are slightly heavier than their "bare barrel" cousins. Check out the specs. Maybe that 's the weight with the scope? How come they don't sell the compact 350 without a scope?

Diana 350 Mag .22
Hammerli 850 .22
A few Crosman CO2 & Pump .177

I was thinking the same -

weight including scope/mount. The scope may be a Diana branded
scope - wonder if it has AO and who actually makes them? I just
want the carbine - I prefer to select my own sighting systems.
Hopefully soon some dealer will sell the carbines without scope/
mount.

I may just buy a Panther and make it a very short carbine - say
38" OAL like my Webley Xocet carbine.

Know anything about that big can?

Airbethere, Im curious too. If "hollow" can be mooved forward to really help reduce muzzle blast. I know most air is used up by most springers before pel. exits,, But, a hollow chamber helps ALOT. Yhea I know alot of the "noise" is generated by the powerplant, (spring, piston, ect),but w/ proper tune, lubes, internals can become pretty quiet! My "clunker" Cross. G-1 is voted by all members of my "club" by far the quietest gun we shoot. Radio Shack DCB. meter proves it. Im lookin hard at the new Dianas w/ big "cans". Im also looking at KRickters 34 Panther (carbine). WOW! cut brl. & re crown?? Boy I have ALOT to learn! Maybee Ill practice on my 760 smoothe bore,,re-crown w/ my new dremel! LOL.! Airbethere,,big cans?? Yeah,, they cut muzzle noise,(you know),,internals,,lube/tunes. All good,, besides,, the weight helps accuracy and eases cocking. Quiet is good! KR.,, If you ever decide to update the "parqey" floors,,let me know!! Just kidden "my friend" !!,,, You "chop" & re-crown my brl.,,Ill install new laminate floors for you!! (just Kidden "Rickter" !!)Airbethere,,Big "cans" are fine,, No Baffles,,no problem!! How is Gamo doing it??LOL.! Tim.

LOL ! Why would I update someone elses oak parquet flooring? Thanks any way my home remodeling compadre' . If you saw the 1/4 house I lrent ...you'd be friend enough to hand me a gallon of gas and a match ...and thats all I have to say about that.

The muzzle weight *is* hollow and a single grub screw affixes it to the barrel . 1" diameter x 5 7/8" L with @ .630" ID . Yes you can also leave about a 3/4" air gap between the muzzle and front of mw cap. Any quieter ? Not really - I couldn't tell much difference in the "hall range" .

The new mw's shown in the catalog do look bigger to me also . SS lists a 350 specific mw stating the id is .604" . That mw will not fit *my* 350 as the barrel measures .6285" - wonder whats up wit dat?
I can tell you that an Apex mw with a .004" shim wrap looks pretty nice

"P/A says the cocking effort on the 350 carbine is 42lbs! The regular 350 is 33lbs."

I think the figure of 33lbs is incorrect (a misprint at some locations I have read). The regular 350 requires considerably more force to cock than 33lbs. I've read that many report the 460 to require less effort to cock than the 350, and 460 is about 36lbs I think.

Pyramyd claims the 350 is 36lbs:

http://www.pyramydair.com/p/rws-350-magnum-air-rifle.shtml

Cobra air guns claims it is 33lbs and so does Umarex:

http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/RWS_350_Magnum_Pellet_Gun_Combo_p/dyn2166155-combo.htm
http://www.umarexusa.com/detail.aspx?ID=68

AOA shows it to be 45lbs, which I think is the correct effort:
