that came in .177 and .22 and set up to mount short scope (pistol or rifle)
or red-dot sight. Available accessories factory mounts, shoulder stock,
muzzle weight, 8" and 12" quick change barrels in both calibers. Heck
include a .20 for the 5mm freaks Also pistol holsters for scoped
and unscoped. A few selections in grips - can't forget that I'm a 'lefty'!

I'm talkin' a P5 Magnum buster! LOL In .177 with 8" bbl CPLs clocking
at 580ish fps MV and maybe 620-630 with 12" bbl. .22 with 12" bbl a
possible 500+ fps with 14ish gr ammo.

Man that'd be my kind of springer pistol! LOL

Make that sliding breech/bolt/barrel over the compression cylinder so
not so long OAL even with 12" bbl and mounting set up so longer scopes
could be used. I can see it now in my mind

We need a more serious springer hunting pistol! Those that consider
a D24 and R7 hard to cock and a bit heavy best avoid the pistol I'm
day dreaming about. LOL

You mean like a version of the Chinese QS 35? My bud bought one of those. Lower power but with stubby pellets he thought it was alright.

What's the difference [to you] between an essentially barrel mounted front and rear open sight and an underlever in a pistol design? You realize how much that puppy would cost? Most people wouldn't buy it because although interesting, it would be priced above everything else, thus limiting most people's interests right there.

My P1 suits my accuracy skills right to the point where I can't hit where I'm aiming. To me that means it really does match not only my needs but my ability.

Yes kinda like the Chinese pistol but....

much higher quality, power, etc. Actually I think the pistol I
described a bit could produce as much as 8-9 FPE in .22. Yes
it would cost probably between $300-$400 or close to what a
new Beeman P1 costs. Yes they wouldn't sell like 34s - even
less than 460Ms and Stutzens too. But I think they would over
time sell enough and also they'd draw more attention to the
Diana name/brand as the maker of the most powerful springer
pistol.

Harv I thought you'd finally settled on the BSA 240M springer
pistol. What's this P1 business?

I like springers and would like to own a springer pistol/mini-
carbine (shoulder stock attached) that could more often than
not dispatch a big squirrel up to 25 yds. IMO the Diana P5 Mag
and Beeman/HW P1/HW45 aren't quite up to the task, feat. The
only other pistol that would interest me is a potent SSP or
low pumps to max precharged MSP. I don't want to pump more
than 3-4 pumps max between shots. A SSP precharged would be
great - one stroke per shot and an accurate pressure gauge
on gun so one could bring the precharge back up to operating
pressure as needed from time to time. Built in power plants
and not a bunch of pumping while plinking/hunting appeals to
me.

Man, have you got a memory! Yes, I love my 240 Magnum. I didn't mention it because who but the oldsters would even recall that BSA made a heck of a great springer pistol in the early nineties? Still my favorite too. But I left it out of the post due to one other more important factor. While the P1 has the sights on the barrel, so to speak, the 240's rear sight is part of the frame. Only the front sight is on the frame attached to the barrel.

p5g mag

February 18 2008, 2:48 PM

Well if they make it i hope they tame the vibrations down some .After 20-30 shots the vibration starts to get to my hand with the 5g i have and thats with a fingerless paded shooting glove on . It has gotten better after 500-600 shots but it has a long way to go to make me happy. And as much as i hate to say it i bought a 1377c crosman at big 5 this weeked that was on sale and took both to the range this morning and the crosman held as good of groups at $55 as the p5g did at $195. .I will admite the crosman looks like a 55 dollar pistol but looks arent everything. And i enjoyed shooting it. And were crosman comes out ahead is all the accories that can be gotten for this pistol . Call it a kit pistol if you want but it has been around for ever . YES i went stright from big 5 to my computer logged on to crosman and ordered a steel breach to mount a scope on and a shoulder stock as well. Then to r. b.s for a super pumper and stock incerts. And the after market offers just about anything you can amagine for that pistol. The rws has nothing for it. Yes Daves carbine find made me think but i will have the pleasure off custom makeing my own carbine as ugly as it may look but it will be the one i built and enjoyed my time with. Marvin

Marvin they - Diana - surprised me with....

February 18 2008, 3:13 PM

the 460M underlever springer. Pretty smooth or not twangy,
vibraty so maybe they could do a potent underlever springer
pistol like that too.

I once owned a PSP 1322 pistol/mini-carbine that could get
up into the mid teens FPE on 25-30 pumps depending on ammo
shot. All that pumping per one shot gets old sooner than
later.

pumps

February 18 2008, 3:50 PM

I know what your saying thats why i bought the p5g instead of the pumper in the first place but what im finding out is i can not shoot the springer any more that the pumper due to the vibs. So sence i shoot so much i guess i have to have one of each one to vibrate the right hand till i cant take it and the other to pump till the left arm cant take it and what im finding out is 4-5 pumps is all thats needed for target practice up to 15- 20 yards any way 10 pumps puts the pumper at a match with the springer for fps. It would just be nice if there were more accesories for the rws line up .The diana catalog showes a need pistol with a scope rail but i dont know if where going to get it.Im surprized no one has come up with a good clamp on mount fot the rws pistols by now . if i had better skills with a lath and had a lath i would be at work on it now and then a stock . I think the markets there for it look at all the custom carbins that are being made . Marvin
