Ctruth,Good for you! Guess you did know this,,Possoms and most other "vermin" have a network of "eyes in the sky" ,,,They watch for Fed. Exp. & UPS trucks,,they know the shape of gun boxes!! They spread the news of new gun arivals in a matter of minutes!! The only thing you can do is give them a false sense of security by shooting paper targets, beer cans,& other plinking targets for awhile! Then & only then they will retun!LOL.!!This serves 2 purpases,,#1, Fools them into thinking you only want to "kill" targets,,#2,,Gives you achance to "dial" in your new gun. Win/Win!! Seriously Ctruth,,congrats on your 350m!! Keep us posted. Now go SHOOT that baby!! Tim.
They are never around when you look for them, only when you don't expect them. They also need to get used to hearing you shoot/target practice so they are not afraid of it. I have squirrels go right up to my targets while I 'm target shooting! Especially wood. They think nuts are falling from a tree..
As far as possoms go they are nacternal animals and they also semi-hybernate in the winter. I don't know if it gets cold where you live but if it does, you should know that possoms only come out of their hole 5-7 times during the winter to eat something during warm winter days only and for a short time only.
If you saw (or shot? I can't remember) the other possom during the day that is very unusual. They normally come out at night. Cat food works pretty good as far as baiting goes. If you have cats in your neighborhood, then try dog food or dog bones big enough so the cats can't eat them (buy cheap stuff). Possoms will eat anything. Put it out at night and if it's gone in the morning, put it out for a few nights and let them get comfortable coming around and taking it. Also they are usually scared or weary of any lighting or light source but if you leave your outside lights on for a few days (or couple of weeks) or your garage door open with a light, they 'll get used to it and start coming around.
Coyotes also prey on possoms so if you have them around it could be they got to them first. You 'll be surprised how close to residential areas coyotes will come for a meal.
I 'm in the same boat. I haven't seen the possom since early November but I know he 's down the old (now extinct) groundhog hole waiting for spring. I only saw him 2-3 times before crossing my driveway as I would drive up after working late a couple of nights. Every time he headed for that groundhog burrow. They often take residence in abandoned burrows. I just happened to see him right before they go away for the winter but I 'll get him when in the spring time. Another thing to remember is that they will travel far in search for food. It may be the one you encountered was not a resident but just a visitor from several blocks away. Or you could be right. Someone is wiping out anything that moves and beat you to it. Sorta like I used to do when I was 14
PS.
BTW it sounds like you have a lot of bad Crosman Premiers in that cardboard box. You may want to call Crosman and return the box for another one. There 's been a lot of bad batches of CP's lately and many of them have .20cal pellets mixed in which is why they fall out of the loading port. Aside from that, the CP is the highest penetrating pellet I have run into. I have tried close to 10 different .22 pellets and only the CP goes through 1" of plywood. JSB Exacts are 2nd with Kodiaks 3d and Beeman FTS 4th. Can't go wrong with JSB's as far as presentation goes but the CP should still be #1. Look at the velocity that CP shot out of the muzzle in the test. Very low.. doesn't look right, so I wouldn't go by that test. It was probably a bad CP.

Yes. I thought that it might be a “seasonal/hibernation” thing with the possums. Incidentally, this morning the bait was gone, and I DID see a lone squirrel. I knew that possums are nocturnal.
On the Crosman cp’s, you’ve really got a passion for those things, man. I’ve read your sometimes downright hostile posts wherein you have this love/hate relationship with them. Let it go, man. If they "really" love you they’ll be back.
The desirable thing about any kind of ammo, is consistency. The box of cp’s
I have don’t fit my breech properly (which is probably why they’re flying all over the place). No problem, I’ll use ‘em for break-in fodder and move on to something else.
My recent order for pellets includes some of your recommendations.
GAMO .22 Hunter, 0.220 1 $0.00
BEEMAN .22 Field Target Special Ammo, 0.220 1 $7.25

possom's are very skitish and like the darkness of the night. here in Florida you have a LOT of retention ponds and lakes that many animals and possums like to frequent
they travel over the underground water rain drains systems. I have one to my side of the house and the cut across my back yard to go to the lake which is in front of my house, they stay withing the wood fence and cross the street to the lake
sometimes I am outside and see the whole pack, dad, mom and the little one. like I said before my next door neighbor will let me shoot 10 tin's of pellets at paper all day long and nothing happens but GOD FORBIDE I shoot a squirrel, possum, pigeon. If he found out the COP's would be here in 60 SEC'S knocking at my door
now CROW's are another thing, he is delighted when I shoot at a Crow, the thing is those bastards are to intelligent to bring down. Harry knows about my misfortune with crow's. I still have to bag one and believe me these are hundreds at about 5:00 PM around here but they stay out of range (or maybe I am a poor shootists) and miss all the time
warren
PS: Don's listen to Tim all he wants is for people to NOT shoot at them so he can bag them. He is the type that watches the Discovery channel and sees animals in the range through his TV just thinking about the distance and gun to bring that critter DOWN and HARD. LOL
Strange that your neighbor won’t allow you to shoot ground animals, but has no problem with you shooting at crows, wherein there is an excellent chance you might miss and hit him or his house. Hmmmm. Maybe he would like to sue you.
Yeah. It’s going to be a few weeks before I get my defective scope back anyway.
That’s plenty of time for iron-sight plinking, and getting my 1000+ rounds through.
Just put another order in to PA for 8 tins of ammo, the 350’s got to like the taste of at least one of them.
The 350 is not too finnicky. It likes most pellets.
I would have gotten the 500tin of JSB Exact Jumbos (15.9/16gr) because they 're only $3 more than the tin of 250. My 350 shoots Kodiaks and Kodiaks well too like yours.
I have taken most of the critters around here with CP's though. A couple of squirrels with Kodiaks and Crow Magnums too and 1 with JSB Exact Jumbo, but the CP's just devestates any animal's skull or body I have shot including large 10-15lb Groundhogs, no matter how far out they are. They penetrates very nicely. So far it seems that 2 holes have worked out a lot better than 1 for me..

T'ja! The AA domes were out-of-stock ...so I ordered the points and was delighted with mismarked sleeves of points ! Yup Two sleeves marked "points" containing 5.52mm domes! Woot !
Unfortunatly I have seen no worse business practices than in airguns and related stuff. So far I have seen bad RWSs being sold as good airguns,Pellet manufacturers that refuse to step up the production pace to meet demand. I swear if any other business operated like this they would end up dead on their ASS. IMHO
I think the manufacturers/distributors in the Air Gun and associated industries have been overwhelmed by the new surge in popularity of their products.
The increasing competition and consumer demand for higher and higher velocities has led to some interesting corporate marketing strategies. Marketing strategies designed (of course) to take advantage of this new windfall of interest.
For example, sight unseen, just from reading customer evaluations here and over the net, in my opinion the Diana 460 is not a “new” product at all. It is a hodge-podge of existing parts combined to create a “new” rifle that strategically (on paper at least) meets consumer demands for a super velocity air gun.
Marketing/manufacturing wise, the result is a “new” product that required minimal R&D, minimal tool and die expenditures, and apparently, zip in terms of expenditures for QC. A win/win for the company.

Rick! You order pointed and you get domed instead even though they are labeled pointed, which is what you wanted in the first place! How wacky & lucky is that? Now I know where all the good pellets are going!
I order CP domed and get pointed even though the box says domed. Return them, and the replacement boxes are the wrong caliber.. ugh$%#@!
Now I know where all my luck has gone. Have you guys noticed that ever since Rick joined our forum everyone started receiving bad and damaged guns and all kinds of things going wrong? Our luck has left us, and went to Rick! He 's the luck thief. Drains the luck out of everyone he comes in contact with! I 've read about people like that. They come into your life and feed off your luck and all kinds of bad things start happening to you.. Seriously! Once his luck starts running out, he will move on to another forum and feed off them. Block Rick now Dave!!

Rick sleeps with all his Dianas at night. For that the Greek godess Diana has rewarded him with the mythical but existential Golden Fleece (from Greek mythology). Now it all makes sense! The Gods are on his side.. They must think he 's Hercules or something
