Tooth brush - good or evil? Baseball bat - good or evil? Automobile -
good or evil? Make that good or bad if you prefer.
Weeks, months go by that I don't use my chronograph but I still have
it all set up and ready to use any time 24/7. Once in awhile I use it
several times in a few hours and dozens of shots when tweaking, tuning,
repairing an airgun. Also I'll "health check" a new (new used too) airgun
from time to time and ones I've had awhile too. Anytime I try some new
pellets I'll use the chronograph. Anytime something doesn't feel, sound,
look right I may head to the chronograph.
If a fella brushes his teeth 50 times a day every day he obviously has a
problem. If a fella stands over or sits on the toilet for hours every day
because he knows he'll eventually need to be there, need to use it he has
a problem. It's not good - maybe not evil but surely kinda bad, wrong, silly
and even sick.
If I buy a new Diana 34 .177 I want at least 13ish to 14ish FPE. If I buy a
new Beeman/HW P1/HW45 .177 I want at least 5 to 5ish FPE. If I only wanted
1ish - that's one or so - FPE I'd have ordered a Marksman 1010 air pistol! LOL
Man I could go on and on.....bottom line I'm glad I own a chrony!
I 'm getting lazy now. If I use the chrony once a month it's a lot but if something doesn't look or sound right, you bet that's the first thing I 'll run to.
Diana 350 Mag .22
Hammerli 850 .22
A few Crosman CO2 & Pump .177
Could be both, depends on how you use it. I used mine at first for Evil ,, SPEED,SPEED,SPEED!!! In over that now. Any good airguner knows,a chrony is an indisputable tool of GREAT importance pertaining to health & tuning of airguns. I use mine now for "good" uses! How else would I have known anything about the "health" of my new (old) Diana 24???? Shoot it into a phonebook???? I may be a back yard redneck,(I admit) & Im still learning computers,, But my chrony is THE best investment I ever made towards learning how to make my springers perform!(among other diognastic atributes) GREAT post Herb! Tim.
Herb,
It's just another spin of the same addiction we all suffer here. Its called Air Gun Addiction it only strikes a few but it is a world wide addiction(the UK is probably second to USA). But it runs deep in each of its victims with no help available for those who suffer the pain and expense of this highly contagious disease.
Oh Yes!!! it is a very contagious disease! With out even knowing about it,,, there friends are drawn in by the shooter by a simple ""Hey pal why don't you come on over this saterday we can do a little air gun shootin and drink a few brewski's in the back yard,,, I'll even let you use one of my new air guns and don't worry about pellets,, "I have a million of them for us to shoot"This is a person with a serious addiction trying his darndest to bring his buddy down to his level and way of thinking. And so it goes.Within a week he and his pal are looking to buy the victim with his new disease(although he does not know he's got it yet) a new air rifle and guess who knows exactly where to go to cop one??They should setup a sting for these people!!! Dunhams,Sportsmans Warehouse,Dicks,Cabela's just to name a few would be a good place to start these stings.
Instead of Harry starting a new Blog you could start "Air Gun Annomonus" with side rooms for those who are cross addicted and the disease has spread to Cronographs,Scopes,Diopter sights,Muzzle Breaks,Custom Stocks,LDC's,Pellet collecting,Target collecting and lets not forget the day dreaming about a new target that could be made and shot at!!!.
All statements were taken from the
"THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF MEDICINE FOR SICK AIRGUNNERS"
and are not to be taken seriously
Sign Me Up PLEASE!!LOL
Happy Shooting
even thru a crony
BBGun Bob
I used to have a life now I have air guns(lots of them) and forums(more than 5).I am a sick man???
SE MI.
I recall guys posting something like this: "Man my tweaked Goober 75
is really cooking after the Joe Blow (pro tuner) treatment! 750 fps
MV shooting .22 CPs!" Then someone will respond something like this:
"That's hot but not as hot as my Goober 75 .22 tuned by Big Mike
(pro tuner). It does 800 fps MV with CPs."
A few days later Joe Blow (pro tuner) goes into this rant post about
"chrony junkies", the importance of balance, relibility, consistency
and - of course - ACCURACY! A week before he was bragging about how
much 'juice' he can extract from Goober 75s!
Cracks me up! LOL
Go back into the AG forums and you too can get cracked up hehehe
This is the point I was trying to make about the 460 in 22cal I got today.I know it,s no where near broken in yet with only 150 pellets through it yet.At the same time this is about the fiftith air rifle I,ve owned or tuned and there,s no way I see it going from 750-760fps to low 800,s after 500 more rounds or even two thousand rounds.Yes it,s very accurate at this velocity but ,so are my Pro Sport,Longbow,B-40 and RWs 46.They all are very accurate and range from 675-725fps.When I orderd the 460 I exspected 800+fps not 900 like they say on the box.I don,t really need one more mid powered airgun.I wanted a Big Hammer! So far I don,t have it.
Im thinking of buying one but more for preventive maint than anything, a tool to keep track of upcoming problems that could cause damage to the gun with continued use. might save alot of UPS bills and the answer of, you gun is fine.
and your answer of i just thought it was not shooting as hard as it did.
I think i will try this on my wife, think it will work. LOL
Kinda like mariage/ love/hate!! Chrony is a benchmark tool,,use it wisely! Not for speed freaks! (better than a phone book)! "Ill be needin mine for tunin/reality checks and such" LOL. Tim.
Warren, Im learnin computers, spellin,&airgun stuff,,even tryin my hand at short stories,,last post of yours streached my simple mind beond capabilitys!! CHRONYS are good in the right hands! LOL. Your friend in S.C. Tim.
