You have discovered the delights of spring guns that were designed to be shot at the sort of power levels at which they are most efficient rather than designed to win the 'Chrony Wars'. After decades of the pursuit of ever greater velocities some are beginning to rediscover that spring powered airguns are most efficient (and pleasing to the shooter) at the moderate power levels that pragmatic engineers long since found to be most practical and pleasant under the limitations imposed by the system. The pursuit of the God of Velocity has produced guns that have became increasingly harsh, hold sensitive, pellet picky and just generally unfriendly to the user. Many experienced users have long recognized this and have chosen to not worship at the velocity shrine. Many more are starting to understand and choose 'friendly' guns as daily shooters.
If you think you love your 24 (a worthy, puppy-dog friendly and accommodating companion!) then you need to try the HW30/R-7, Slavia 630/631, Diana M-27 or Baikal IZH-60/61. And just wait until you get your hands on an early German target gun such as the Walther LG-55 or the HW M-55! And a Giss system Diana raises it another notch or two yet.
Maybe Harv will chime in. He knows. Tom
and ad the TWANG, vibration, hold sensitive, recoil and other variables these brutes have compared to the medium FPS springers
sure you do noy get the THUMP with these sweet air gun's because they were designed to shoot straight and true. no 30 and 40 yards gor these or bringing down a possum, they were never intended for these exercises
I am thinking hard about my 460 and the new JM kit for it, Maccari sells the GRT (same FPS as OEM)and Soft kit *lower power spring) for this gun. he has a reason for selling the soft kit for a 460, it gives you a powered down version on this rifle which means better accuracy and less problems to shoot. The difference is like riding a wild Bronco horse to a well worn Colt
warren
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
