Not one but 2 crows!

February 25 2008, 7:23 AM

within 15 secs of each other! The neighbor at the top of the hill behind my property had put out some bread for the birds but it attracted 20-30 crows. They were all having a feast and chasing each other to steal the bread out of their beaks. They were pre-occupied with that so I went to my porch which is on the other end of the house about 60ft to the left from where I took the pic and about 7-8yds back. Total distance was about 29-30yds from the crows. The above pic is about 17yds away from the crows.

They didn't expect me to come at them from the porch because I had only done that once before. Anyway I waited until a couple of subordinate ones landed on my trees over my property and got the first (bigger one) one right in the eye although I was aiming at the upper chest but it's no surprise to me the POI was higher. I normally practice at 20yds and that's what the open sights are sighted in for. The CP's keep climbing until around 35+yds before starting to drop. More than half the crows flew away after the first one fell, and then secs later as I had finished reloading another one lands on the same branch where the first was sitting 30ft above the fallen one. I aimed quickly because they were all aware of my presense and very nervous and got the 2nd one in the chest. I was in disbelief!

I did get one about a month ago, so this is 3 crows for the season. What a nice way to end the hunting season. Yeah baby! BTW, I had practiced a lot with the new batch of CP's I got the other day after my ordeal with P/A. I shot 200 of them yesterday afternoon and during this shooting session the torquing went away almost completely! The gun doesn't twist in my palm any more! The CP's started getting more accurate after that. I shot about 200 of the 14.3gr new batch of CP's, die#7 Jan08.2008. Not one bad one! I think they may have fixed the problems! Here 's another pic where they fell and another pose one
It's so much more rewarding shooting on open sights!

no actually

the first one, the one on the right in the 2nd pic (or on the left in the first pic) was larger by 23-30%. Much heavier too and bigger claws and everything. The 2nd one that was smaller I think was a younger inexperienced one and while the others were staying away or do fly by's over their fallen comrade the younger one landed on the same branch the first one fell from. Maybe he thought while the bigger ones were running, he could get a bite of that bread that my nice neighbor put out. I didn't know I could bait them with crumbs.. I thought they needed meat.

Tim:
Yeah eat your heart out!! hehehe You never know, 3-4 days left, you can do it, com'on it's a race! Put some bird out! or if you had left that rabbit out in the open for a couple of hours they may have shown up. I left a squirrel out one time while I ran to the store to buy a digital camera, and when I got back the place was swarming with crows. I ran inside and grabbed the 350 and shot one off the tree off hand, but it got up and ran across the street so I lost it. That was the 2nd one. Before that I hit one from 40+yds out, and it started flying erratically. I watched it as it flew about 100yds behind my house and it fell straight down. I drove around and couldn't find it anywhere. So these 2 made up for the 2 I lost, but I posted another crow kill a few weeks ago, so it's 3 total you have to catch up to
