I was wondering when i got my 460 it had some grease or maybe it was oil on the breech top(Silver area) i figured it was there to assist in a smooth action when cocking the gun.
Well it has not went away after about 150 shots and i want to wipe that area down to avoid rust should i wipe it away and re oil it? Or just wipe it away?
Sure, no problem, wipe away. Mine has some brownish grease in the same place. When you are wiping down the gun for fingerprints with an oily cloth or maybe Ballistol, (which I like) just hit that area too, before putting it away.
Hi Justin, basically you can wipe the exposed chamber area and put a light coat of oil on it after, the grease will wipe off and basically there should be some inside of the actual receiver that will keep the parts lubricated. I have mentioned this in a previous post that when I read the instruction manual for the Diana guns from their actual website that these guns should be lubricated for the life of the internal parts, I am not shure if anyone has called Umarex to confirm that but I beleive most of the German made guns are like this now. So basically I would wipe the compression tube off and then just put a light coat of oil to prevent rust, the grease might attract a bit of dirt anyway being exposed if you are using the gun out in the wind and in field type conditions.
To clean the inside of your barrel or bore. The entire rifle has been coated with a antirust spray, even inside the barrel. It will alter your accuracy if you don,t.Use goo gone or rubbing alcohol on swabs to clean the bore.
