Another box of poor CP's

Got several boxes of CP's from PA today, die #7 in .22 were fine, die #1 in .177 were fine, but die #1 in .22 from Jan. 10, 2008 were not.

I found 55 pointed pellets in the box of 625, all pellets were rather dirty, as if they had been swept up off the floor, which is probably exactly what happened.

Not bad enough to send 'em back, but I don't know how they'll shoot yet. (the domed, not the pointed, they're trash)

I'll see if I can get Justin at Crosman's attention. Did he ever leave an email address? (probably wouldn't dare)

Duncan

Crosman is really making an effort to correct this problem

March 1 2008, 5:36 PM

They've rooted out the possum who was mixing up the pellets

And replaced him with an expert to run the new, high tech pellet die equipment

All pellets will be meticulously weighed and sorted

Then they must pass a final inspection in their quality control department

Crosman has hired the quality control experts with a titanic track record in the field of metallurgy

This should fix the problem once and for all.

They promise.

My only question becomes, how do they shoot? It seems they may be decent for hunting due to the fact that though they're technically pointed pellets, they ain't all that, er, pointed.

Thanks Phil,

I meant Josh but had just posted a reply to Justin. ;>)

I just sent those pics to jcoon, we'll see if he replies.
Probably a pretty busy guy just now, if Crosman hasn't fired
him for insubordination!

D.

New CPLs Die #1 Consistent, good for my...crappy for...

March 2 2008, 4:53 PM

I find the new CPL Die #1 (mines DTD 11/03/2007) very consistent. The head is a bit undersized at 4.47mm, but, consistent.

My new FWB300S likes them (it has a tight barrel) at 10M. Oh yeah, diopter sights. I'm not bragging, just stating that I think I found a pellet the FWB300 really likes!

But, I will not shoot them in my HW55 nor HW95 as the pellet is too loose.

So, they're good for the FWB300 and Crappy for the HWs (55, 95).

BTW, mine are all domed, no points.
