I went out to my favorite places today looking for air guns.I stumbled onto a old HY-SCORE 808 .177 Pellet or BB.I have looked all over it for a serial number even under the fore stock and I guess it does not have one.I swapped a pocket knife and $25 for it so I guess I didn't do to bad.(well at least i am happy and thats what counts)
Its still got a lot of power!I found out the hard way. When I got it home I loaded the transfer port with some 20W non detergent motor oil and let it set/soak for a couple of hours. Then I just had to cock and fire the old girl to see if she still had anything left in her.Sh%#t now I got a 4" oil spot on the ceiling above the chair I was sitting in!!! LOL.
It needs a trigger guard but other than that everythings there and she's in fine shape for her age(I had to recrown it ).I'll do some posting for a original Trigger guard but in the mean time I can fab one up if I can find some pictures of what they looked like.It don't look like it would be to hard to make a copy.
I'd like a little advice on restoring her or leaving it the way it is.If I restore her I know she will never be the same.Maybe beautiful but on the other hand she will loose her original look and appeal.I will take you guys opinion as to what I should do with this matter.
All suggestions will be taken to heart as many of you know a lot more than me about old Diana's.I do not want to screw up this rifle by any means!
I have heard it is the same rifle as a Diana 25???
It was made by Mayer and Grammelspacher which is now RWS or
Diana.Durning the 50's and early 60"s they made them for HY-SCORE.That is all the info I have on it for now.Its killing me to shoot her but its dark and cold out now,and I think the oil will work a little better given time to soak into the seal.
If any of you have any information about these rifles or you know of a place I might find a trigger guard/info could you please share this with me I would sure appericate it.
Happy as heck
BBGun Bob
