 Several tests have been done thru the years and it's a topic you might want to google and see what comes up? Type the topic in a search at each Forum too.

 Not only does the skirt get affected by the barrel, but also by the powerplant. Pneumatics and CO2's dump much of their push right away and Springers actually accelerate the pell along the bbl. Different skirts are needed for each "launch" situation. ie: Hard alloy for Springers and a softer alloy for Pneumatic and CO2's.

 Pellet testing is the most time consuming part of this hobby but I personally like shooting a LOT so I really enjoy it!

 There's so much to learn about Pellet requirements and I am definatelly not an expert. If one reads the many posts and write-ups available though they can learn a lot!

I guess that would eliminate skirt blowout. (On the big .58 muskets you can hear the rounds "coke bottling" or whistling when they deform like this.)
