Hey Anon, From what I hear the shopsmith is a pretty good multi purpose woodworking tool. Im old school&like differant tools for the differant tasks they are meant for. My "thickness planer" is down now & will make my job on Marvins stock a little more of a challenge. No biggie,Ill just rip the center "laminate" on table saw & double it (width wise) to get the overall hight I need to get a nice comb drop configuration. Even ripped from a table saw Im sure I can get a snug fit from the outer laminations to his frame. Even though there will be imperfections,,ripping vrs.planing, most of those will be filled by expanding poly glue,("gorilla glue") And mostly un noticable. I never said this would be my finest work, just a crude little carbine stock for my friend Marvin. You can see it at,kliff53.proboards.com go to pics,& 2250back together-finally! That is a pic. of what Marvin can expect. I call it,crude, but effective!!Tim. P.S. Anon, Please post your name,The guys here at Diana Werks are The best! Welcome aboard. Tim. |

Hey Rayburn 11, Since your father was a wood craftdman, I suspect the cherry, walnut& oak you have "stashed" from him may be very valuble. Maybe highly figured or 1/4 sawn. Dont know about you "attic"?? but in moderate climes, your wood could be around 5-15& moisture content. With a little stableization (storing inside) you may have a goldmine of stock/grips lumber! Protect your Dads wood! I still have some from my dads stash.Lord I miss him! Maybee I can make somthing for you from your Dads wood? Tim. timmyj1959@yahoo.com | |
