I posted about this a while back. I still stand behind what I said. Cronys are a great tool. Before I get jumped on,,remember the microwave oven?? We all own them now. For us older guys here, remember the first computers?? Thats what keeps us conected here. Do most of the tuners we all respect own a crony?? Im willing to bet they do. Its not about velocity wars, No quite the opposite, its about consistancy & health of our beloved airguns. I know like others here,my paper targets, beer cans, fur&feather targets dont know the differance. But I do. I make no apoligys,, my crony is a great tool I use & one of the best investments I have made to help me learn more about my airguns. I will not change my op. on the value of a crony: Used wisely, it is an indespensable tool.Tim.
mine has a few dents that attest to this.
Actually I agree that a chrony is a great tool and one that I use frequently. On the other hand, it is only a tool and does not take the place of actually getting out there and shooting. It is funny though, I remember going through "chrony mania" when I first got mine. Everything had to be tweaked to the utmost. I bet we have all gone through that phase.
Yes Tim its like the very gun you test with it.It is not the gun that kills and takes joy from people it is the user that miss uses it that takes the very joy of the sport away from himself and can also turn others away from the sport and make them sell their guns never to know the happness they cold have had . Was just showing my "Baby Girl" The latest posts from my friends here and at Kliffs site. She is pretty popular!! (helps her dad w/pics& computers)! Remember guys, family is #1 priority, I tend to forget that. Tim.
hey Marvin& Russ. Thanks for the posts. Russ,, At first I was eat up w/chrony fever.Go back to my posts,,,fastest & bestess! That is a "phase" of my life that is over. Marvin,it is sad that we would lose even the first newb. airguner based on numbers that mean nada in the real world of our fun hobby. Ill never change my opinion on chronys,,a great tool for those that are hungry to learn all they can about airguns. Just my 2 cents,, Tim.
I find the chrony numbers as how they compare with different guns and pellets fascinating. Before I had my 34, I made a mental guess of where I thought the gun should fire. I then did a chrony test before and after the tune. I was really close, on the new fps. after the tune. I like to think that I was getting a good feel for the gun.
Beware of using phone books for chrony test. It really makes it hard to look up a number when you finish and using the soap bar later can scratch the skin with all the pellets inside of it.
Thanks so much for backing me up on a contriversiable? subject! Harry you posted earlier today velocitys from your 850.Diana 10 post I think? How did you provide such accurate #,s ? Oh yeah,a chrony!LOL.! Phone books, soap,& balistick gell are great to test real world penitration, pell. expansion, ect. but, true velocity figures can only come from a chrony. Alot of us here spend alot of $ on our guns. A hundred bucks spent on a crony is a GREAT investment! Chronys do more for a serrious airgunner than I can put into words. Thanks guys, once again, my day is made! Tim.
