Yes and WHY?

one is laminated and the other is walnut, that is the difference

warren

PS: I would go for the (hide warren for this remark) LAMINATED

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"

Don't think that's walnut

Looks much like beech to me. Of course, I've been told walnut and laminates are inferior, so these must be beech.

BTW, I'll take the plain but nice beech stock on my 54 over these two, anyday.

And you would be right!

Laminates have harmonic dampening qualities.

It is indeed an interesting possiblity.

Un Abrazo!

Wood vs Synthetics 'n Stuff...

March 19 2008, 11:07 PM

I really enjoyed seeing the new Catalog and getting a whisp of "things to come" from UMAREX! Reading between the lines one can see that this just might be the new agressive sales promotion campaign Umarex has mounted to save the fine old German Goddess!

Prior to the sale of RWS, I remember reading of the changes within Diana's stockmaking concern. (A bit foggy about all the details,so don't quote me) but soon as the sale of RWS was complete, the  Model 34 Panther line came out, and now the more spread lineup including the 350!

I wonder if DIana sub-contracts their plastic stock work or if it's done in-house? Suddenly there's as many as 3 different stocks available for many models! Hey, I'm all for the versification of lines and might even consider it genius to  see the company trying to invade the Gamo concept of Synthetics and for Umarex realizing the marketing potential (Copied from Winchester/Crosman/Gamo) in offering several wood or Synthetic stocks on the same model action!

Of note in the latest Catalog is the loss of the Giss recoiless action in DIana's Pistol line and the fact that the company is opting for different Pistol power levels (all aimed at Field Use) too!

Change is Blowin in the Wind!

Don't know who's making the Gamo stocks

March 19 2008, 11:54 PM

But the one on my Shadow 1000 (older version) is suprisingly nice. Not as hard as, say, a Butler Creek for the 10/22. Now, if we could get Hogue to do one of their over-moulded stocks that would be great.

I have Hogue stocks on a customized 10/22 and on my Mini 14 and really like them. This would be a great idea.
