Do you use the Yellow Forum BOI?

That's the Board Of Inquiry listing buyer/trader/seller experiences
of airguns and airgun accessories.

It's been a long time since anyone has posted/listed me there even
though I've did more than a few airgunners right in my dealings with
them. They just don't want anyone to know they've had any dealings,
any association with me. Guess they're afraid they'll get banned or
catch some 'heat'.

Over two years ago I was permanently banned from the Yellow Forum
for briefly stating some facts about Russ Best on the BOI.

The BOI is a joke to me - I see more than a few guys listed there with
positive comments about them that I would never do any dealings with
in airguns nor anything else. Also there's some that have had their
buddies post some made up super positive dealings.

The BOI is a part of the "airgun world" or a place in the "airgun world"
so this post is airgun related.

I don't use the BOI anymore although I occassionally look it over like
a detective working on solving a case, a crime.

Being into "airgun truth" sure makes one unpopular, makes a lot of
enemies.

Yes there are some "good guys" listed on the BOI - I don't need to go
there to find out. I've been around long enough that I have a pretty
good BOI in my own mind.

I'm one of those strange guys that has over the years went back deep
into many of the AG forums and read most of the posts. Also checked
out most of the personal websites, dealer websites, etc. Read a lot
of books and mags too and talked to many airgunners. Kinda like an
old detective working on solving a case, a crime.

Amazing I still enjoy shooting airguns - guess it is in my blood!

Just a little bit of my take on the BOI. What's your take?

Herb

If possible, yes

My 54 was purchased off a seller on Auction Arms that had no history. Fortunately, it worked out very well. For buying small stuff, I think the classifieds are ok. If it were for a $1,000 gun, it would be a comfort to know the seller is a regular poster, et cetera.

I came close

March 19 2008, 1:49 PM

twice to buying a Webley Patriot .25 and a Beeman Kodiak .25 but hesitated because I didn't see any of the sellers on the BOI. I then regreted it and ended up losing the guns both times as they had been sold.

Not everyone can be in the BOI. If I were to sell one of my airguns tomorrow, I couldn't tell people go look in the BOI for me because I 'm not there. I have not sold or bought airguns over the internet in the past so there 's no history on me. You guys are right. Just because someone is not listed in the BOI, it doesn't mean they are crooks, and possibly the other way around. Maybe a crook has gotten a couple of his friends to give him positive reviews on the BOI, you just never know, but that person can only scam one buyer maybe 2 until his name and/or address has circuilated the forums. I agree. Not very reliable but for the most part I think it's good to have and go by.

Diana 350 Mag .22
Hammerli 850 .22
A few Crosman CO2 & Pump .177
