Don't clip the coil yet...

Hi there,

I added to a post not too long ago talking about the T05 trigger unit...here is the link to that discussion.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/thread/1205093675/last-1205382466/350+Magnum+trigger+pull

I lighten the pull weight on all of my guns to 2 lbs or a hair bit under using trigger weights to measure the pull....this is how I do it...

Take a pair of vice-grip pliers and:

  1. Start with the jaws of the pliers closed all of the way
  2. Turn the screw on the back of them till the jaws open enough to put the trigger spring in between them
  3. Turn the screw on the back of the pliers to close the jaws enough to make the top jaw and the bottom jaw contact the spring and hold it.
  4. Now turn the screw a bit more to compress the spring just a bit
  5. Take a hotair gun (NOT A TOURCH and not even a cigarette lighter!) and heat the spring BUT NOT TILL IT IS RED HOT!!!!!!!!!! Go slow and look at the spring's color...ya don't really want the color of the spring steel to change
  6. Just heat the spring till it is too hot to touch and then turn the screw on the pliers a bit more to compress the spring a wee bit more.
  7. Heat again - BUT NOT red hot....never that hot!!!!!
  8. Now turn the screw again until the spring is completely compressed and heat again...remember, not so hot that the color changes.
  9. Put the pliers down on something like a brick, block, concrete....not paper or material (had to say that for safty's sake)
  10. Let the spring air cool...You don't want to stick in water or oil...just let it air cool while STILL compressed in the jaws of the pliers...
  11. When it is cool, reinstall and give it a try...repeat as necessary...

I know, that is the hard way compared to cutting a coil, but I just don't like clipping trigger springs.

IMPORTANT: Try hard if possible to have extra trigger springs before modifying them so that if you don't like the results, you can go back to factory pull wieght!!

If you are still worried, post another message here and I will try to help more....perhaps I can post some pictures showing how I do it.

If you are going to sell it, can you .......

......provide a picture of each side + top, bottom, front and end, where you live if NOT in the USA, and how much you might want for it?

Although I wouldn't give up so fast if I were you...they are great guns and I will try to help you all that I can.

Since a trigger spring is not that big of deal, if you can get 2 or 3, send me one and I will set the pull weight to your approximate specifications for you...I wouldn't need the whole gun, just one of the new springs...should be cheap to send to me and visa-versa.

Sincerely,

-Curtis

Hi Athanasios,

I am glad to hear that you got things going good...I love to hear about a shooter working things out for themselves...it gives you a feeling of "I DID IT!!!"....somewhere in the back of your mind, that "I DID IT" thought comes through when you shoot the gun and ya just plain old feel GOOD. I honestly believe that good feeling translates into the quality of your shooting and the overall experience!

Again, good job and HAPPY SHOOTING!!!

Would still like to see a picture….go ahead….show her off where she can be appreciated!

If I can ever help, ya know where to find me!
