Tired of shimmimg your scope? Help is on the way!!!

I happen to be personal friends with David And Tina Ding of Leapers INC.The business is a short 9 mile drive from my home.Awhile back David asked me to build him a pellet trap for his R&E Dept.He wanted something they could shoot RWS Magnums,Webley Patriots and HW's as well as others like them into safely. As you all know these rifles are known as "Scope Busters".David wants to be able to test both scopes and mounts at his company in Liviona Mi.After delivering a bullet proof trap to Dave and each of us as well as a few of his engineer's taking a few test shots with my .22 cal.RWS 48 we had a sit down chat concerning air rifle mounts and scopes and the damage caused by Magnum springers.
During this chat David showed me a new product under development that should be available in 3 months.(Tom Gaylord AKA B.B. Pelletier from Pyramyd Air)is testing one as I write)It is a one piece compensating scope mount with built in 5 to 15 degree angle especially for RWS rifles(but can be used on any air rifle or pistol with a 11 mm dovetail). It will adapt a standard 11 mm scope rail to 22mm scope mounts(weaver type) and has a double built in scope stop. One being a recessed hole milled in the base of mount that fits over the screw on the back of a RWS dovetail along with standard allen screw scope stop..It will compensate for barrel droop which is common on most air rifles, there will also be one for standard 11mm dovetail to 11mm scopes.Imagine no more shims. They are also working on one with a different type of adjustable droop compensator.WOW is it nice. There is a small knurled wheel at rhe rear of the one piece scope mount.By turning this wheel you can make the rear of mount move up or down in click increments like in your scope turrets and will lock with a allen or grub screw once set. Also alot of time is being spent in enginnering to make sure once it is set your POA does not change from recoil.
Neither of these scope mounts raised the scope to critical heights keeping your scope as close to the action as possible.
Dave told me he is committed to make a better scope mount than the current BKL 260D4 and 260D7 at half the cost.
We'll have to wait and see!! I told him thats going to be hard to do.(just to crank him up a little)as the BKL's is the Magnum Air Gunners #1 choice for mounts and has proven itself. While I was at it I mentioned that 2 or 3 allen screw mounts are not good enough for magnum springer mounts. 4 allen heads at least that attach a mount to the dovetail is the only way to go or you will be wasting your time.He did not like to hear the truth, but I told him it can not cost that much more once tooled to add a couple of extra tapped holes and a couple of allen head screws to the base mount if you really want to compete with BKL.
Enough Said!

This was written to gave you a little
info that can be useful in
the future. They should be available thru
Pyramyd Air,AOA,Cobra just to name a few
in about 3 months.(June/July arrival date)

I am in no way connected to Leapers INC
Nor am I trying to promote there
products.I only wrote this to let
our people at/on the Yellow Forum know
Of things to come in the near future

Respectfully
BBGun Bob
SE Mich.

PS: If this thing fly's once it is introduced to the public others will follow to accept the 3/4",1" tubes as well as the 30mm tubes on the large 50mm & 56 mm varmint scopes.

I am going to try to be civil on this one

BBgun Bob:

Mr. Tom Gaylord has put his reputation on the line with this mount he say's is helping develop for more than 10 months already. Working on prototype #4 already and promising he will "end the barrel droop" on all Diana's. I follow his threads on this mount, I even bloged him about it 2 months ago at PA blog, also went to the other forum (different color) and posted about this

IF and IF Leapers comes out with a winner on this one is a long shot. Tim at Mac1 is watching this one real close, he is the competition with his mounts

I have the Sports Match 5039 and the Dampa, all with 4 hex screws to the side. interestingly the Dampa in my 48 does not have a vertical pin and has held very well. Johannis from the Netherlands sent this mount to me, it is unbelievable good

I will wait and see results by others and not get burned like the "C" mount RWS

BBGun Bob, like your enthusiasm but many people have made promises in the past which have not been accomplished. my rant has nothing to do with your good intentions and info

warren

PS: I am not killing the messenger, OK

and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"

New Mount For Dianas

March 26 2008, 4:17 PM

Warren I too have been watching this one for quite some time. Quote "Mr Gaylord put his reputation on the line" That is why I think this new mount will work! B.B./ T.G. may be in my opinion a cantenkerous kinda guy,, He is a true expert when it comes to airguns. I may make a few enemys here for that statement, But Im shure others will agree w/ me,T.G knows his shi$. I doubt he would put his name on the line if this new mount would not perform admirably. I for one am looking forward to the introduction of this new mount. In the meantime you could get a C-Mount! LOL! Lord I apoligise!! (Dont come back to me on all the other mounts currantly available!) I know about them,Im just "funnin"! Tim.P.S. Warren Im just messing w/you! Still friends?? Tim.

Thanks Guys for the good responces!!

I only tried to tell what I seen with my own eyes while at Leapers delivering his pellet trap.
Warren I understand where you are comming from.
It seems that during the conversation I had with Dave and the help he has asked for from experts his commitment to a building perfect mount for Magnum air rifles is very sincere.
He is also very aware of the growing number of people getting interested in adult air gunning.David told me "these air guns of today are no longer just a toy like the old Daisy days.It has become a very serious sport with manufactures fighting to create the best air gun built. The competition is fierce and I must keep up with the rifles of tomorrow.I am commited to doing everything possible to Scope these rifles for both sport and competition shooting"
So at least someone in the mounting and scope business is taking a good hard look at what is now going on.He even mentioned the waste of time that is going on right now with the big FPS number game/war,stating it is a joke to a real air gunner because you have stay below the sound barrier.
So at least he knows what he's talking about. And I know he gets most of his info from guys like T.G. BB Pelletier and other Professional people into the air guns.
Hell he even listens to me.And I'm just a regular guy who is addicted to air guns.LOL

See Ya !

Thanks for the inside info. Please keep us informed as to any "inside" info you may be privy to. I for one think this will be a mount that will be worthy. We will see. Tim.
