based on this info which 350 would you buy, detune to 750-800 FPS to make it a smooth machine and improve accuracy
warren
PS: not trying to create a monster 350, just something to reach 800 FPS with low recoil, vibration and a nice fire cycle. accuracy over velocity in .22 cal
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
I would buy the RWS 350 F PRO compact = 8.0, 45, 900, 15.75, 42, $442.00.
Reason being it is a shorter sportier looking rifle. The full sized 350M is just to long for my taste.
And I really like the look alot better.Again this is only my personal choice/opinion.With that said it is your money and will be your rifle so buy whay suits you and your tastes best.
I guess I'm a different kind of guy anyway,I have thought about buying one and send it to Rich in Mich. and have him install a 14" Lother/Walther barrel,I did this to a Quest and that is so accurate its like a target rifle.
What made me do it was a power tune I gave it when it was .177
put the shots over the sound barrier as you well know I could not hit sh$#T once that happened. So rather than take away power I swithced calibers,I chose the .20 because of pellet BC and the flat trajectory a .20 will give you.
Anyway buy what YOU like not others.

Man did I mistake you. I thought you were relativly new to airguns, man was I wrong! I want my chrony back! LOL! (glad to see you got it today) Hope the rain & sleet stops tomorow so you can test it. The pics you sent me show you had no prob. setting it up! Dont lie: I know you have it set up & are shooting out the back door to see your first 'numbers"!! LOL! You should NOT have posted those pics. of that custom Quest (ba$tard), Warren will get no sleep tonight for shure!! (just funnin Warren). Enjoy the chrony my friend,,Tim.
you have a Chinese gun with a Lother/Walther, no offense to the Chinese reference
the quests, Bam19, tempest are magnificent air guns but you have a great edge with the L/W barrel installed by Rich in Mich with a very good platform behind it
warren
PS: those shots are great and then "AWESOME" nice shooting
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
not only do I have a Chinese rifle I also have a Chinese wife and stepson. After looking for an American woman/wife for over 15 years I gave up because most had Drug/Alcohol problems or skeletons in there closet and a load of luggage I just didn't want to deal with.
So I looked to China where those problems do not exist if they do your a dead man there!!!LOL.Do drugs get caught your dead NO PROBLEM (Chinese Government Philosophy)in there eyes this is how to deal with drug a problem..One bullet in the head then send body and bullet case to family with a bill for the bullet.Problem solved at no cost to the government.
This was probably the best move I ever made going to China. This woman is the best and better yet even after almost 5 years here she still can barely speak english !! So I don't have to listen to it!! "No bitc*ing" in english anyway!Ha ha ha.
Shoot often
And safe!!

Me my Wife(Lingling) and stepson(SongJin)
[IMG][/IMG]
there seems to be a trend here, my wife is from Costa Rica, Central America
dislikes the USA and can talk English like a 6th grade student, she is a CPA and accounting teacher in her country and a housewife over here, traded all of that to be with me for a PRICE and that is that I retire and we both go to Costa Rica, like she is twisting my arm on this one
and Curtis, you are lucky too
no offense to the girls from the good USA but they are not for me
warren
PS: BBgun Bob; you have a Chinese wife and gun but I do not have a CostaRican air gun, just the wife
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
Now that is a sweet rig!! and the family photo is great!! I love the story on both the gun and the family....I my mind, that is a man on a mission to solve problems....better yet is that you succeeded in resolving both issues! My girl is German/French from the OLD WORLD and boy, not knocking too hard on USA gals, but what a difference (IMHO) in the way that they think and behave (-oops- ACT -looks around the room - whew)!
The best deal is the "regular" 350. It even looks like it has the best wood, with checkering, etc. The other ones are plain looking to me.. The regular 48" long 350 also has 33lbs of cocking effort. Not sure where you got 36lbs.
I will let you know how my 350 behaves and the #'s when I put a JM Arctic spring in mine with custom guides, spacing, tophat, etc. I should be shipping out the 350 early next week for an Adv.tune after I work out one more detail with Curtis.
my quest here is to duplicate what the 34 does at 600 fps with a different Diana, maybe the 350
not looking for 900 fps but 750 to 800, cannot get it from the 34 SOOO lets go up the ladder to the 350
deburred, tuned with a JM spring with a top hat and guide that shoots like my 34 but with 200 fps more, is it possible, YES but only with the 350 air chamber
now which 350?? 19 inches of barrel makes a heck of a difference and the cocking has to be acceptable (not trying to cock a Patriot)
is it possible to detune a 350 and shoot 750-800 fps where you cannot hide behind a "Dime"?? (.10 cents)
warren
PS: all my info on the specs. for the diffrent model's of the 350 was from the Diana's site and the regular seems to be IT
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
May I quote,,see above post,,bb Bob and Harry,, "MY QUEST here"-------? I thought you told me you sold that "ba$tard?? (Quest)? LOL!! Sorry Buddy I could not resist!! Man Im bored today! Just funnin Warren!! Seriously from what I have seen, I must agree w/Harry, the standard 350 has a much nicer checkerd stock,& costs less. Unless of course you are like some others & dont care for the "350" stamped into it?? Personaly I could live w/out that myself, kinda takes away from a really nice wood stock in my opinion as well. Please dont put out a contract on me, I was just funnin!! Tim.
Warren, I think you are on to something. Seems to me a tuned down 350/22cal shooting 750-800 fps would be as well behaved as an R-7? During early season here when temps. still hover around 70deg. I have no reserveations hunting w/ my 2260 w/B&A Boss valve shooting 14.3 C.P.,s @ 600 fps. Ive done it very sucsessfully. Look back at Pauls test on the Panther, like I told you yesterday, I thought the 34 was closer to 700 than 600fps, I rest my case.LOL! You have 3 of them, can I test/tune one for you?LOL! Tim. (Pink Panther) LOL!.
Sure it is possible!! With the setup that you described, I am sure that you would be very very happy with a standard 350 Magnum in .22, and the possibilities are ENDLESS for what can be done with the gun tuning UP or DOWN (detuning)....the 350 is a VERY strong and stable platform! If the weight of the 350 Mag is a concern, the Diana of Germany site has new synthetic and walnut stocks for the 350, I am thinking of ordering one of the plastic stocks if they are any lighter than the beech...that would be GREAT for long walks in the desert and resting the gun against rocks if need be.
What you might think of doing is to get a standard 350 Mag in .22 cal. with the 19" barrel - measure down 3" or 4" and wrap a piece of tape at the mark and try cocking it from that pull point....if you don't think that it is too stiff, then order another barrel in .22 - one of the shorter 15" carbine length models and sell the longer one to offset the cost of buying the 15"er if you didn't want to keep the 19"er for yourself. I have had Patriots and a Kodiak (all .25) and I don't think that grabbing the 350 barrel down that low to cock is as stiff as the Patriots and Kodiaks. The tune on the 350 will lighten the cocking effort a bit too, especially with the Maccari spring and a tophat.
I once cut a 19" 350 barrel down to 15" flat and recrowned the barrel to use as a hunter in the thick Casterbean brush when I spent half of my time working in So. California, but I found that it didn't make things any better or easier than the 19" barrel...to me (IMHO) the extra 4" is really nothing to consider other than loosing it gives you less mechanical advantage when cocking the gun.
NOTE: The Diana site in Germany doesn't have a "Feuerkraft", rather, they call them the Professional Series...so I guess the name "Feuerkraft" comes from Umarex....btw, the literal translation is "firepower". (You can reference the link above for specs)
Here is MY personal issue with the 350 Magnum "Feuerkraft"...
There are some questions/concerns that I have about the RWS Diana 350 Mag Feuerkraft with or without the 15" barrel; those concerns are as follows:
We all understand that vendors/marketers/some manufacturers oftentimes overstate the claimed muzzle velocity (FPS) of a gun, but allowing for that, a standard .22 cal 350 Mag claims a muzzle velocity of 920 FPS while the "new" RWS Diana 350 Magnum Fuererkraft in .22 cal. claim a muzzle velocity of 1000 FPS...how did they obtain that extra and "not-so-easy-to-get-in-.22 cal" 80 fps?
Has Umarex sent specs to Diana of Germany for a "beefier" 350 Magnum Professional for the American Market?
Has Umarex received 350 Magnum Professionals with from Diana of Germany and preformed their OWN little "hot tune" to kick up the FPS? If so, what have they done to get that extra 80 fps, add spacing to an already stiff spring? I DO like the OEM springs for the 350, but other critical things have to be done in addition to adding spacing to keep the gun healthy and not turn into a "harsh" shooter.
Has Umarex gone to testing magnum guns with 8.5g pellets?
Has Umarex once again just "puffed up" the FPS numbers on a new product line for the USA?
Diana of Germany shows all versions of the .22 cal 350 Magnum as shooting at 860 fps...a much more accurate muzzle velocity claim! Thank you DIANA Mayer & Grammelspacher GmbH & Co. for not lying to new airgunners and for not insulting the intelligence of us vets and enthusiasts!
So Warren, considering that YOU don't want to increase the muzzle velocity of a standard .22 cal 350 Mag, but rather, detune to a lower muzzle velocity, is the Feuerkraft, at a claimed 80 fps faster and $30 more on average really the 350 for YOU?
Additionally, the Feuerkraft doesn't have:
A Monte Carlo stock
Checkering on the pistol grip and forearm
If I stand to be corrected on any of the aforementioned points, PLEASE let me know!
Personally, I am not going to buy anymore RWS products (including RWS Diana guns) as there are a few things that Umarex does that I highly disapprove of and I cannot be true to my feelings and beliefs and still support them by making purchases of products which bare the RWS logo, pellets included. Some of those things that I strongly disapprove of have not mentioned on this or any other site that I have looked at.
I am ordering directly from Germany or perhaps another European Country (wherever I can find the best $$ deal), even if that means that it will cost me more money when converting from US Dollars to Euros and the extra cost of shipping.
With all due respect to my Dianawerk Collective friends,
Ok, Guys, I have to step in for just a minute. Nice guns, and terrific wifes. You guys are very proud of both! Congratulations on your God blessed fortunes! My very first girl friend was named Bonita, a flower of a young woman from Mexico that spoke little English. I fell in love so many times with young Fraulines in Germany that I can't even remember. Maybe that is my attraction to the German guns. But!, I married the most beautiful Southern Belle in America. Born and raised here in Good OLD Virginia. Her name is Rebecca, and she is precious. Would I trade all my guns for her? In a second! (except maybe my Marcello Zapatero tuned HW 30 and Rws 34). lol
I love my airguns. I dont own one tuned by someone other than myself. If I owned a Daystate Airwolf tuned by the man upstairs, I would run it over with my truck before I would trade my wife. I have been shooting her for 28 years, she is well broken in now, tuned to perfection,no hold sensativity issues whatsoever. She never lets me down & always hits dead center. Her POI. never shifts, she is always aiming directly at me! Nope, like my 24 she is a keeper!LOL! Look out Harvey, Im trying to learn how to write!!LOL! Tim.
When I installed JM's 'Arctic' spring in my 350, velocity shooting FTS went from 876fps to 806fps. So it should get you where you seem to want to go. Be it known that the gun is back to stock; I didn't see enough accuracy or recoil change to warrant the velocity drop. Just me, I'm sure.
are correct in the fps's #'s for the 350, Diana has them at 860 fps which means an average, could be anywhere from 850 to 900 depending on the air gun
the weight of the 350 series goes from 7.9 (Panther Classic Compact)to 8.8 lbs. for (Panther Classic Professional)
I have my 460 shooting 820 fps with a smooth recoil also my 48 which shoots in that range without a kick
my 34's are my air guns to go when I shoot paper. I know the 34 can be tuned to go 800 fps but at what price meaning what do you loose to gain that velocity, if it compromises accuracy then I am not interested. I firmly believe that accuracy goes before velocity
let me correct myself and say that I am looking for a Diana in break barrel, .22 cal, 800ish fps that is very accurate, as accurate as my 34 with 650 fps and fun to shoot
warren
PS: Curtis, you have your fps #'s correct and your personnal appreciation of UMAREX might not be far from the "Bulls Eye"
and remember "it's 30% the gun and 70% the shooter"
Thank you warren...I appreciate the acknowledgement, I honestly do.
I was afraid that I would ruffle feathers, so to speak, concerning the expression of my feelings toward Umarex, but I felt that I had to include them.
I also wish to include this additional thought on JM springs.
JM springs are, by virtue of their design, geared around making a gun's firing cycle "smoother", although the word "smooth" is a term that is relative to the shooter AND the gun.
I see and hear people say that power dropped off when they installed a JM spring in their guns, and while that may well be a truthful statement, I hope that people who are not familiar with JM springs understand that his springs are NOT OEM "drop in" replacements. They are intentionally designed to be a few coils shorter than the gun's OEM spring, and as such, require additional "spacing" to increase the gun's power levels closer to OEM specs. That spacing can be on the piston side of the spring or back at the rear spring guide end of the spring.
I just hate to see them get dubbed as "low power springs" when that is really not the case. They are a precision part that is designed to be "fine tuned" to the shooters requirements.
In my .22 350s, I elect to keep the OEM spring and add a tiny bit of spacing too for that is what I require for the long range hunting of larger critters that I do out in the desert. But I tune the guns so as to be more efficient, especially where airflow is concerned, BEFORE I start adding spacing...I just say this to try and illustrate that when adding aftermarket parts and/or making alterations to a gun, the shooter has to have an idea of what they are trying to accomplish with the tune/upgrade.
Warren, through hands-on experience and contemplated forethought, has defined what he would want his gun to do after the tune...that is the FIRST and most critical step in the decision making process and I salute him for his vision!
