Oh The Evil Rest!

Ray, Tim here. The Predator from Bass Pro has served me well,(about $45). Cabelas has comperable models. You can spend alot more, but those are for powder burners. As an airgunner you only need a basic rest. Most air guns contrary to what most say (artilary hold) will shoot very consistant from a solid rest. HOWEVER, when you go afield your point of impact will change DRAMATICLY! What I do is use a "sand bag" on the front of the rest & hold the gun as close as I can like I will do in the woods Ie: resting against a tree. I always look for a tree to rest on!! (Im a poor marksman) LOL! Benchrests are semingly almost as "Evil" to alot of airgunners as Chronys. They are both great tools when used properly. (my opinion) Im shure you know all this Im blabing about. If you would like to compare notes pertaining to shooting springers from a rest, E-Mail me, timmyj1959@yahoo.com Just my 2 cents, Tim.

I use a Caldwell bag. The green one with the black suede. I shoulder the rifle as I normally would but use the rest instead of my hand under the forestock. With this basic set up I scored my very best group with my own HW77K: Five shots at thirty yards that could be covered by half a dime. Now I've come very close to that before and since but never shot better than that rested group with that particular rifle.

"Shoulder the rifle as I normaly would" Thats what I meant to say. What you do pertaining to your "front hold" is in my opinion just as, if not more important. Hold consistancy is the secret to stacking pells. with springers. You can "dial in" your guns from a bench rest if you do it right, and take them to the field w/ very little poi. change if you follow some simple rules petaining to hold issues. Thanks Harv. for your input. I wish I could express myself in words like you can. JUST my 2 cents,, Tim.

Of course if you are shooting a Diana 54 You need not pay any mind to the above posts, You can hang from a tree like a monkey & shoot w/ no adverse affects!! Ok, maybee upside down is pushing it ( I have not tested) (Yet)! LOL!! Anything short of that will stack one pell on top of another! Can you tell I LOVE my 54??LOL! Tim.
