Cheap parlor trick

I just ordered a Shinsung Career 9mm Ultra.Eric advised me against it because it is not very accurate with the only pellet made for it. But I have seen a lot of post from guys saying it shoots 000 buck shot good and 360 Hornady vary well. To help pay for this air cannon I will have to sell my 460. I think it's funny that no one seems to want it here. All these fellas that are telling me it is a fine airgun and just needs a little tlc. After all my negative post about it. It is nice to know the guys here might think I know what I'm talking about though. I will still have a fondness for spingers so tankers will play second fiddle in the air arsenal.

If I didn't already have some air rifles that fit that niche I would go for your 460.

I've shot the Careers. They all have the power wheel, don't they? Or am I thinking of the Careers in .22?

Apoligy to John A.

March 28 2008, 3:49 PM

Hey John, Tim here. Im really sorry I jumped in (stole) your thread,(Who wants a 460). I feel like a jerk again. Mine is on its way to a good home. Yours is much more desirable in 22 cal. What gives? Shurly someone here is interested. I would not try so sell any of my guns/accesorys elsewere, only because I trust everyone here. This is my 3rd "deal" here & Im very satisfied. There are many other options for you on the net as Im shure you know. I hope someone here snatches your 460. I wish you the best of luck selling your gun. Again Im sorry. Tim.

Actually ?

April 3 2008, 7:32 AM

You know Harvey,Pop and I kinda went out on a limb with this Shinsung. There is not a whole lot of information on Shinsung anything. And we go ahead and buy the Shinsung with the least personal experience posts on the net. Especially here in the U.S.. We got a lot of our encouragment to go ahead and get it from fellas over seas. Almost everyone to a man says dump the Asian pellet made for it and shoot 35-36 cal. balls in it and it is a totally different airgun after that. "Hey" we don't give the Brits there due in airgunning. I will believe them quicker than most because they usually look at things with a more analitical mind, And have been screwing with these airguns on a whole bacise a lot longer and more serious than us. "Oh" I know at least this one (Career Ultra 9mm) has a power wheel and a manometer too !

John if i did not already have one i would buy it , dont need two of the same gun. And i dont buy guns to resell, i buy them to keep.
I shot 50 rounds through mine tonight to get my scope fine tuned in.
At 25 yards you would not want to be a dime. Then shot it through chrony,
871fps with cp, 825fps with Predators, and i still think its your scope, but thats just what i think.
Take care Ray

I'll buy it, or better still, trade you for it.

March 31 2008, 12:03 PM

I have a regulator for the Careers from the A Team.

My experience with my own 9 mm's fire 201 was that the gun shot really well at 2,000 PSI's starting fill pressure, but without the regulator, the autonomy was barely 12 perfect shots (not that you need a lot more, unless you are handling "pest control - feral dogs" with the gun as I was), so I bought a couple of regulators, installed one, adjusted to 2,000 PSI's, and have been happy ever since shooting cast slugs that are Keith SWC types that are deadly on anything above 70 lbs.

So, if you are willing to trade my spare regulator for your 0.22" D-460, I'll take it. It has to be a straight swap, shipping by me included and shipping by you included. You will have to consult with the Appelles Bros. if the regulator will suit your gun, as I do not know the size of the airtubes of the Ultra.

Getting your gun into México will be a pain in the neck, customs wise, but I am willing to go the extra mile for Diana.

Keep well!

wow..

March 31 2008, 2:47 PM

does a used regulator cost $375-$400? They 're not kidding when they say you can easily spend over $1K on an average PCP, are they?

Not used, Harry

March 31 2008, 7:11 PM

Its brand new and it is one of those things that are scarce and sought after.

Whether it now costs $375 or $400 I don't know. Hard to say with those hand-made things.

I do know that if someone is so dissatisfied with an airgun that wants to get rid of it at all costs, well, he has to face the consequences.

My grandmother used to say "of that which is lost, whatever is found is welcome"

Simple, really.

I'm sorry Hector, Nothing personal, but I do no business out of this country. I would love to buy a baffle from a personal airgun poster in England,But again I do no direct business out of the U.S.

Of course it is not personal

April 1 2008, 1:40 PM

I understand that.

Just let it stand on the record that you DID get some response to your dissatisfaction by someone who backs up the Diana brand in his territory out of sheer principles.

Just not the answer you expected.

I may not agree with Mayer & Grammelspacher's selection of importers into your country having no say there; and in that context, I truly have to say I have no leverage; as much as I can do is to offer you some satisfaction within my limited means from outside the US to support the Diana brand.

From now on, I will greatly appreciate if you could limit your comments to the US Importer's responsibility, whom I believe are UMAREX et al.

Keep well!

Un Abrazo!

Parts of the puzzle missing?

April 1 2008, 8:04 PM

Mr. Hector,Tim here. I respect you for the great help you bring us here regarding our airgun hobby. I have no predijus? regarding what type of airguns I shoot OR the friends I choose to shoot them with. You my friend are a big "player" in my eyes,& I make no opoligys for my statement. I was born in Miami Fla., I now live in S.C. BUT, I shoot many types of airguns,& have many friends from other states/countrys, I have a special place in my heart for some of my airguns& some of my friends as well. If I had any airgun I wanted to deal with you on,rest assured, I would not hesitate for one second to make a deal with you. Hope all is well my far off friend,Tim Un Arazo!

One man's opinion

April 3 2008, 6:59 AM

Frankly I see no disagreement in this thread at all, but I do have an opinion to offer FWIW.
If Hector tells you it's going to rain then if you're smart you won't step outside without an umbrella!
Hector and I are friends of long standing. We know each other. We've spent a lot of time together in my shop and on my range. When Hector talks guns or shooting I listen. Period. I know a bit about Hectors' background and experience. Suffice it to say that ignoring anything he has to say about shooting of ANY sort should be taken at your own risk.
Much the same applies to all aspects of airgunning from operating principles to practical improvements. I've watched him work with my lathe. So I pay attention when he speaks about machining too.
And enter an intellectual argument with him at your own risk to your ego. While I admit to a bit of overweening pride concerning my own intelligence I often feel undergunned in Hectors presence. He has one of the sharpest minds it has ever been my pleasure to be around. He'll readily deny it, insisting his brother is the genius in the family. I take that with a large helping of salt! Tom

I'm poor, now, but I'll bite, anyway

April 3 2008, 7:35 AM

I tried to follow the convoluted "who wants" thread but got confused. This 460 is in .22? What was the price, again? Is this the same gun that was tuned with after market parts, shot a bit slower, than restored to OEM or is it a different one? If sent back to the good people at Umarex for repair, why the return shipping? Did you pay to ship it there, as well? (IMHO, the jury is still out on them.)

Did a little more reading here just now

April 3 2008, 7:48 AM

I see that Umarex charged you shipping both ways. Not a lot of goodwill for them to gain there. (I mean "goodwill" in the accounting sense that a business is worth more than book value of its assets due to building up a good reputation and customer base.)
