I think I want to get a refurbed .22 48, but how often is it to get a lemon and how many times do they let you return for replacement? Do you have to pay for each shipment? I know I sound like a real cheapskate lol.

Refurbished or Demo??

March 30 2008, 6:33 AM

the refurbished will come stamped with the letter "R" in the wood stock and receiver the Demo does not, they both cost the same shipped

have the 40 in .22 cal. bought it from UMAREX and have not have a problem. the Panther in .22 is a refrurbished also and they have the "R" stamped, no problems with either one, for the price you pay for a Demo or refurbished it is well invested $$$

no complaints from my "R" air gun's

Is the stamp is permanent or just a mark with ink?

It is PERMANENT

the "R" is stamped on both sides of the wood and receiver on a "refurbished" not on a Demo, you could fix the "R" stamp in the wood with filler or other methods

refurbs

I have two, 350/.22 and a 48/.22. They both had minor nicks in the stock, very small.
I like the 48 the best. They both shoot good, The 48 is a workhorse of an airgun.

the 48 a workhorse? it is a MULE of an air gun, sturdy, heavy, reliable and a pleasure to shoot

I have mine with a Vortex muzzel break, bipod, Sports Match DAMPA mount, Barska Scope, 19 inch barrel and is pushing 800 fps and weights 9 lbs. absolutely incredible air gun, same platform as the 52 and 54 without the bells and whistles

the 34 and 48 are the real thing

any pellet under .14 grains with my tuned 48 will be at 800 or very close, like 790, 800, 810 FPS

Refurb experience

April 1 2008, 7:56 AM

I bought a model 5 p pistol. the sights wouldn't adjust right. it shoot too hi. Gave it the tissue breech seal test and failed. looked locally for an o ring to fit and wasn't succesful. Called umarex, explained problem amd they sent me a free oring and shim, but still charged $7.95 for shipping.

If i have to work on a gun, may as well stick with chineses and save the money. some of my chinese have shot great out of the box.

i will not be buying any more rws refurbs, but that is only because of my experience. I didn't try to return or exchange, just figured more money outlay.

After all work pistol shoots great and sights can be adjusted as they should.

NO WAY !!

I would not let RWS off the hook on their guaranty for anything. DO NOT BUY A DEMO OR REFERB direct from Umarex Always keep a big company like Pyramyd,Cabela's between you and Umarex. Umarex has to do what they tell them to do because of their buying power. "YOU" if they don't want to fix their reject they just peddled to you ,They won't.End of story.I just spent more then $45 in shipping both ways to Umarex. They told me to send it they would check it out. They got it. Did nothing to fix an odvious workmanship problem with my 460 (Demo) . I just had to send them $22 to ship it back to me with the crown of the barrel still looking like it was done with a rock. NO MORE ANYTHING UMAREX FOR ME !!
