No one talks to me much here anymore. Probably because 90% of what I was saying was negative stuff about the 460 and Umerex. Well I'm here this time to say something positive. In waiting for my 460 to come back from Idiotrex I put my RWS 3x9x44 IL scope with C mount on the talon. I was just playing around and didn't even dial in the tedeous to set up C mount. I then sighted her in. That smile that you guys talk about came to my face. It was very welcome in regards to airguning. I hit a 1 1/2"round swinging metel target 10 out of 11 consecutive shots at 30 + yards.I will do nothing but tighten my group up from here. Thats a good start for a guy like me who hasn't been shooting for 23 years.Hardly ever more than 20 shots at any given time. This is plenty good enough to hunt the way it is. I like the field of veiw,I like the choice of retical, And the optics are at least good/fair. It might not be a match scope but not a bad value at $79 or $89 ? for hunting. Does anyone know who made these scopes for RWS. I think someone told me it was Bushnell ? And I have nothing but praise for the Talon. If you want to just plink,turn it down to 3 1/2 - 4 1/2. If you want to BLAST turn it all the way up to twelve.
Sometimes you meet one of those Americans who needs some extra attention. Well Sir: share your knowledge about the 460 to improve our skills with this powerfull air rifle and have THE COURAGE to be optimistic !! Don't try to be the hypochondriac of the forum in the opinion of the "old world" readers but help us with info about the best Diana air rifle on longer distance, I am sure you have experience enough !! John, Tim here. Im not shure what is going on here. I talk to all here every day. If I had a bone to pick w/ you, it would be that I made a heart felt apoligy to you that you never replyed to. (Iknow you saw it). I will find the thread for you. (recent). I have had dealings w/ Umarex as well as you& many others here.I have not always been overwealmed w/ enthusiasem? pertaining to thier services. I have even made some not so nice posts regarding my exp. with them. But,,I try to be propper in my posts about them. No I cant spell too well,BUT, I have made some great friends here that accept that. I hope you will accept me as well. Still Friends?? Tim.
for your 460 now?I know you,ve shipped that poor thing back and forth already but my offer still stands to take a look at it for you.If it needs a crown job,no big deal!Done it several times.Try it out when you get it back from Umerarex (or however you spell it)and see if it,s any different.If not,give me a call and maybe we can work something out.P.S- I,m pretty cheap when it comes to fixing airguns for friends!
It is a quirky gun and one that will give you much pleasure.
The usage of the C mount solves one of the main weaknesses of the gun (the too slim scope rail and weak linkage thereof between barrel and tank/stock). This is another instance where RWS products are good not only for Diana airguns.
It also tells me that you have a specific psychological setup. The 460 has disappointed you because you expect more oomph for the twang, since in the Talon you are happy to use the PW in the low regions. BTW, do not expect the PW to do much for power, it does a lot more for noise.
Bottom line to me is that maybe you should go over to the dark side.
