1. Shooting airguns!

2. Learning about airguns or airgun knowledge.

I'm not in it to get rich, get over or make a killing. Heck I've
gave away FREE a couple thousand worth of airguns and airgun stuff.
I'm not in it for fame, to win a popularity contest. Heck I've been
banned from a few AG Forums and more than a few airgunners don't
like me.

I'm into airgun truth and being fair and square in my airgun dealings.
I'm into confronting, speaking up and exposing even if the other is
a airgun god, airgun great or whatever. Someone has to do it!

Over the years guys that have impressed me by there knowledge, sharing
and being truthful are guys like Dave (Aranthol), Scot (Classical Gas),
Bioharzard (forgot his name), Harry Fuller (Yrrah), Hector M. and a
handful of others. These guys are no doubt into Airgun Truth! If they
don't know - they say they don't know.

There's a lot of 'dross' in the mountain of airgun information/knowledge
and a little 'silver' and 'gold'. I ever want to get at the 'silver' and
'gold'!

If my airgun hobby is reduced or becomes just me shooting airguns and no
involvement, no communication with other airgunners I'll still enjoy
airgunning. I'm not interested in "getting with the program", "playing
along", "joining the club", "worshipping the gods", etc.

Some will say "It's just airguns". Of course - I know that! It's just
football, baseball, auto racing, mountain climbing, skydiving, etc.
Whatever it is I want the truth, the facts!

I've learned a lot because I didn't do what I was told and "just get an
R7", "just buy an R9", "go PCP baby", "don't change that spring", etc.
LOL

Probably the challenge first, camaraderie second

April 14 2008, 11:38 AM

Thanks for your kind words Herb; really undeserved, at least in my case.

Airgunning is a bigger challenge than other forms of shooting, ¿why? the small power/energy yield of our guns is in itself a challenge. The shape of our shuttle-cock projectiles is another. The relatively inefficient way of making that projectile speed forward is another. And there are others. They all add up to the challenge.

The challenge of making things work better, or the challenge of becoming a better shot (better trigger control, better follow-through, better breather, etc.), or the challenge to stalk game closer.

To me what is fun about airgunning is the challenge.

If I wanted "easier" results, I would use firearms (as I did in the past). I still managed to make things challenging with those, but it is easier to stake out a 100 meters range for extreme airgunning, than to stake out a 1,000 yards range for loooong range shooting.

Hunting with an airgun is more challenging, repairing an airgun is more challenging, shooting FT with an airgun is more challenging.

And then there is this fantastic sense of camaraderie in and amongst the airgunners; we give each other things for free, we give out advice wholeheartedly, we sympathize across oceans, creeds, colors and nationalities, we simply empathize with anyone that sees life through the same challenge as we do.

I enjoy them both, my technical "geekiness" keeps me here in the sport, but you all guys keep me SMILING!

Un Abrazo!

Héctor

The Truth!

April 14 2008, 4:40 PM

Yep, I thought that was what this site was all about! Sometimes the truth may not be what others want to hear, BUT, if it is the truth, so be it! If I wake up & the sun is shining bright,& Hector says its going to rain, Im not going to bring a raincoat based on what he says, No way, Im staying home from work cause I know Im gonna get rained out!! Hector is a ROCK in the airgun world, this cannot be denied by anyone that has spent some time researching airguns.(ALOT of time!) Tim. Un Abrazo!

Like my other guns, I like the mechanical aspects

April 16 2008, 5:33 AM

Guns are really precision items. Some have artistry thrown in, to boot. I also like older guns for their workmanship, interesting designs and, of course, using them. There are so many variations that all get the job done and this keeps collecting/shooting/trading from ever growing boring.

Plus you meet a lot of nice folks along the way.
