Thanks for your kind words Herb; really undeserved, at least in my case.
Airgunning is a bigger challenge than other forms of shooting, ¿why? the small power/energy yield of our guns is in itself a challenge. The shape of our shuttle-cock projectiles is another. The relatively inefficient way of making that projectile speed forward is another. And there are others. They all add up to the challenge.
The challenge of making things work better, or the challenge of becoming a better shot (better trigger control, better follow-through, better breather, etc.), or the challenge to stalk game closer.
To me what is fun about airgunning is the challenge.
If I wanted "easier" results, I would use firearms (as I did in the past). I still managed to make things challenging with those, but it is easier to stake out a 100 meters range for extreme airgunning, than to stake out a 1,000 yards range for loooong range shooting.
Hunting with an airgun is more challenging, repairing an airgun is more challenging, shooting FT with an airgun is more challenging.
And then there is this fantastic sense of camaraderie in and amongst the airgunners; we give each other things for free, we give out advice wholeheartedly, we sympathize across oceans, creeds, colors and nationalities, we simply empathize with anyone that sees life through the same challenge as we do.
I enjoy them both, my technical "geekiness" keeps me here in the sport, but you all guys keep me SMILING!
Un Abrazo!
