ok, I finished my experiments and studies with these springs

I have some unused GRT kits for sale; prices include shipping they are not used at all

460, for $70.00

48, for $60.00

34, for $50.00

they come with a metal top hat and brass rear guide and spring guide but not on the 34, you can use your original spring guide with the 34

I also have steel hardened washers for any of these kits add $5.00 for a set of 4 washers

e-mail me and finish the sale

not using them??

April 23 2008, 5:21 PM

I did not buy them to use them but to study them, there are alternatives and other venues

have measured them, tested outside the gun, make notes on all of them and do not need them, they are for sale at a below price. I have improved some issues and will keep to do so, these are prototypes to me but original's to whoever buy them with the caveat that they will get some more information besides the original GRT kit

why? because I have unlocked the mystery (for myself) about the GRT kit, clue #1 it's all about washers added to the spring and right placement, #2 top hat can be made of steel instead of plastic, #3 rear guide width and height is key and so on and on

buy one and you will find out

April 24 2008, 6:30 PM

Absess tooth, 3 days of pain. Plenty of soup for me. Vicoden kills the tooth pain, does not however quell the pain of this thread for me. Very unfair IMO. I hope I never invest my time & $ to try to make an honest attempt to help those that love airguns & get slamed so hard. Very unfair indeed. Tim.

Who is this SOUP

April 24 2008, 9:07 PM

guy? What's with all the jokes and what do all these comments have to do with this thread or Dianas? They are not productive at all and are begging for an escalation..

Warren bought a few GRT kits to do some comparisons. He is now selling them. I don't see why he needs to be attacked and rediculed. These are a bargain. Do you know how expensive brass is? and do you have any idea how much $ a machinist asks for to make just a couple of custom steel top hats (if you 're not ordering wholesale quantity)? What do you think Paul Watts and some other tuners do when you order an advanced tune? PW takes the GRT kit and fabricates custom guides, custom top hat, etc. just like the ones Warren is selling. You have to ask for (naval) brass (guides or top hat) and he 'll charge you extra for it. It doesn't come with the "package". It's the only metal to use to eliminate vibrations almost completely from your shot cycle. Ask any good tuner. These guides and top hats are the most essential ingredient to help your gun shoot more efficiently, with less spring fatigue, prevent piston damage, and produce a much better shot cycle. Another big advantage is that they allow you to shoot heavy pellets which you could not risk doing before.

Lets stop the wise cracks because they only promote more unhealthy comments and frankly it's a reflection of some people's ignorance.

April 24 2008, 9:26 PM

Nobody's slamming anyone here. Just some good natured ribbing. The guy said he had ferreted out the deep, dark mysteries of JM's springs, and we all know how sensitive Mr. Spring can be about his goods. (Just scope out his website.) We're all ONLY JOKING. How this can be construed as teetering towards ugly, I don't know.

As for as the Soup Nazi, I guess he was on Seinfeld:

(Tim, I hope you are feeling better. Been there, myself, and it ain't pretty country. Had a tooth go south one New Year's holiday weekend when all was closed and waited three days for a root canal.)

Wow Tim..

April 24 2008, 10:12 PM

You better go to the dentist tomorrow! It's only going to get worse. Don't let it wait another day. We 've all been there. What you should have done is contact your dentist and have him call in a Penicilin prescription to the Pharmacy for you. The antibiotic helps temporarily until you get the root canal. It keeps the absesce under control and helps with the pain too, usually after the 2nd or 3d doseage of 500 or 750mg of Penicilin. I 've had a few root canals so I speak from experience. If the absesce is bad, they may even peform surgery (oral surgeon) in order to clean it all up from the bone and gum.

The worse thing is, that sometimes the bacteria from the tooth (and even gums) infection can travel to your heart (knock on wood!) and damage a valve or other parts of the heart. Many times by the time people exhibit symptoms, it's too late to do anything or operate. That's how I lost my dad last Fall.
They say many people (50+) are better off having most of their teeth pulled out and go with dentures if they often have problems with their teeth (and don't have that perfect actor/actress smile). Much healthier that way and eliminates many of the risks from gum disease, etc. Give me another few years and I 'll be going that route.. I will then never have to deal with dentists and their drill again! Put me under and pull them all out! hehehe My mother-in-law did it 10+yrs ago. She said she should have done it long before that. She said she hasn't had bad breath since, or any tooth/gum smell, etc.

Tradesman

April 25 2008, 4:18 AM

Jim Maccari is arguably the worlds most knowledgeable "air gun spring" authority. Obviously, his work is in great demand and for good reason. He crafts great springs. Some may say that he has a somewhat eccentric personality. This may be true, but then don't most artist? Common sense would dictate that you do not go to the head of the "soup" line and tell the Chef that you have "UNLOCKED HIS MYSTERY" and can in fact serve his customers a better bean soup. That was a very bold statement to say the least. If you have done so, it might have been a good idea to at least state why, and give proof positive rather than "hints". Certainly, a note to Mr. Maccari explaining your thoughts and observations would have been the respectable way to have presented the info.

Jim Maccari has a very loyal group of believers that know he will tell you the truth of air gun springs, something he has obviously committed his lifetime to. Warren with all true respect to your studies, I will continue to purchase my springs in the future from Jim Maccari, saving a buck for his spring with "new and improved secrets" may be for some. I will just order a new spring from Jim. An invitation to Jim to join this discussion may be in order.

Re: Tradesman

April 25 2008, 7:07 AM

Obviously some who are on this thread know how the No Soup For You comments became part of the Maccari signature and others don't. This tells me the folks who posted the NSFY stuff have been around the block. As Dave has already said, there's a history with some of the posters which goes back a long time. The new folks have no idea what this stuff is or where it comes from but the old hats in the biz do.

Look. Maybe it wasn't apparent at the time but a few of the comments were sort of directed at me. Why? Because I've been part of the fun only instead of soup, JM's humor with me had to do with a certain air rifle.

No Tracker for YOU lol. That's a story which goes back a few years. (If you guys could see me grinning right now maybe you wouldn't think this thread was so bad)

The point is, Warren unknowingly made a mistake. It happens. All that's left to resolve this is to man up and straighten things out.

Now, can we all drop this and leave it between Warren and JM to sort out if they think its necessary?

If my steely nerves can hold up I think this shall be my last post on this miscontrued thread.

No tickie, no laundry...

Harv

I talked with his Holiness once over the phone

April 25 2008, 2:16 PM

A shop had an old Walther target rifle. It was kind of beat and had what I believe to have been an oak stock. It was probably one of a batch of Egyptian trainers that came in some years before, noted for their roughness. Anyway, I was directed to JM's shop as a source for possible parts. Following up on the lead, and living not far from Valhalla, I called one day and explained what gun I was looking at. He told me, in no uncertain terms, what a POS it was. I used to say people like that probably have hemorrhoids.

we need to clean some AIR

April 25 2008, 5:20 PM

dear blogger:

and BS artists, I have cleared the air between JM and it seems that because I bought close to $350.00 from him and never used the GOODS I get slammed by some of you

need a copy of the invoices from Air Headquarters? will provide them in spades for every penny

bought all those kit's and never used them not because they are bad but because they are not in my (personnal taste)

just because a NO-login person say's I want to take over Air Headquarters means BEANS, by the way NO logging and signature I know who you are. just a pittifll enamoured of yourself little NO/body hidding behind a NO LOGGIN and NO signature. you do this to youe friends, family and anybody else it will come back to bite you in your arse

I tryied to do a favor for the community and THIS IS WHAT I GET, stuff it, don't need this

I copied the GRT kit or maybe scamming the community, pick one but guess what I was trying to help some people, which by the way DO NOT need help at all

I DO NOT have a machine shop in my house or a thread wire machine to duplicate springs, all I did was OFFER the same products I bought for 1/3 off the price

un-login POST's you did not accomplish anything you DO NOT advance this hobby but slow it down with your inuendoes and crap

it took me two day's to read the BS on this issue and to defend myself, sorry for the wait

are you people posting in a "FUNNY" manner now? having FUN? jesting? where is the laughter NOW?

advance the hobby, it is just a hoppy, enjoy it

another UN-loggin

What did I do to deserve that?

Can you machine and fabricate your own parts? That's great.
I may take you up on that one day although I hate accepting stuff for free. I feel heavily indebted and it bothers me.. don't know why, that's the way I am. I always have an urgent need to pay for the stuff and only the thought that the other person offered it for free is more than enough for me.

Dave (from VA Beach) sent me an extra .22cal 8-shot clip he had for my 850 because he had no use for it (he has an .177 850) and I 've been trying to figure out what to send him in return for 2mos now. I just don't have a lot of airgun related stuff to offer except a tin of pellets, so we can always trade

April 27 2008, 10:37 AM

I NEVER meant anything other than a bit of joking when posting about not wanting to tick off The Master. I do sincerely hope that none of my content has been taken the wrong way.

Offering the kits and springs at a reduced price is a very generous offer. Why some people made a Federal case of it, I can't begin to understand.

Bottom line. Never take me seriously. Just ask my wife.
