I'll bet its a quite trap too.I'm working on making my Disco a neighborhood friendly rifle.Had a couple of comments about it (nothing bad)from my friends in the neighborhood thats a clue to do something about it before Johnny Law pays me a visit.
Thats all you need to say to Johnny Law! He He! Thanks so much Bob for the mail from a few min. ago, I just sent you a reply. I knew that spring would not fit, he$$, I got the gun on my bench torn down. Pretty obvious to me. Thanks for the back up Bud. That is the trap I told you about, let me know if you want one. I gave 3 to my friends this weekend. Throwing the trap pic. out there to see if anyone would like one,, free,, you pay shipping, 100 Gamo targets, about 5 bucks,,Duct seal,$2 a pound, (target pictured contains 5lb.s) Good for mild powered guns. (2&1/2" aprox thick) Can accomidate 6 or 7 lbs. to 3&1/4" thick for magnums. VERY QUIET trap,, Disco?? very noisy! LOL! Tim.
By the looks of that box and the measuring tape, I'd say height and width are approxiamtely seven inches to accomodate the slots for the target paper. The depth would pretty much be whatever you felt you needed.
Mine looks similar but I did it the easy way and used an 8x10" heavy duty outdoor metal junction box with 10lbs of putty (about 2.25 putty thickness) but will be getting 5-10lbs more. The 350 is penetrating deep like it's butter
I like the way you insert the target paper through the "guides" from the top in your trap. I may take you up on your offer. I can always use more traps. One for outoors and one for indoors
I have over 1,000 pellets in my trap and it seems like there 's no more available surface area to shoot pellets into. I 'm afraid if I shoot repeatedly into the same area (espcially with the 350.. 850 is of no concern right now), the pellets will eventually start hitting the back of the trap. There 's no way I 'm removing all those pellets. It will take me a couple of days to dig through them. What do you guys do after you shoot so much into the duct seal? Buy new putty to replace the old? I was thinking of adding another layer of 1" or so on top and shoot another 1,000 or more pellets and then throw everything out and start over with fresh putty. The $ is starting to add up though since I made this silent trap. I guess that 's the price you pay for wanting "silence"?
That's what I do. For a while I'll dig out the pellets but at some point I'll just go get more duct seal and redo the interior all nice and fresh.
The other thing you can do while you've got the old duct seal out is put a metal panel in the back of the trap to ensure nothing gets through. The new duct seal will hold it in place.
I have three traps at the moment. Two home builds and one my wife got me some years back. I use the one she got me the most.
I have one similar to that from Archer Air Arms at a whooping $75.00 plus shipping. A very nice trap indeed! Put a handle on it and you could be in business. I love my trap and wish I could make one similar to it, but woo is me, as I do not have access to a table saw. Actually, I think $75.00 is a fair price considering the time, wood, and effort that is put into it. It would be nice to see one with very large dimensions on it, for safety reasons, especially if you shoot indoors. Here are the dimensions of the Archer.
Hey Tim ,
congratulations on your new Camera, Yer taking pretty good pics already,
gonna be an expert in no time flat. as soon as I get home for work I'll post pic of my Trap, its got 8 # of duct seal in it and got at least 20#s of lead
in the bottom of it. just waiting to be smnelted into powder burner boolits.
Tim, Dampa is on his way and additional I put a small spray can with Ballistol in the package so you can do some test with this unbelievable product !! Best regards from Jan. ( P.S. nice trap, not for the 113 yards !! )
Hi, Jan, I had posted my excitement of this great product a few weeks back. I first learned about Ballistol from the tuner MZ. I would like to make a reminder that it does not only work great, but is non-toxic as well. You could literally drink it. It works better than anything I have ever seen and can be used for so many different applications. One guy puts some a cup for his razor. I shine my shoes with it. Tom Gaylord pointed out that it is a great product to lube your pellets! Which I now do as soon as they arrive.
By the way, I see all your post now are 100 meter shoots. I hope there is still enthusiasm in Europe for 10 meters as well.
I 've been using the stuff for a couple of months now. It has a funky smell to it that lingers around for a couple of hours but it seems to work well so far.
