the front blade on the sights to narrow them a-bit. Just wandering if this has been attempted before i try it. I figured a slightly narrower blade would be a little easier for open sighting. Just a thought

Several times...

In some cases I have replaced the blade to accomplish the same thing.
Either way, I find it improves my accuracy.

You can actually get a dovetail front base

With globe inserts for the 48-52-54 family.

Look at this:

If you are reasonably handy with a file and a scroll saw, you can make your own front inserts from Acrylic/lucite.

Tape and Paint

Use masking tape to cover all but a narrow strip on the front site, in any shape you want. Use Wite-Out or florescent paint to paint the exposed area, then remove the tape. Yes, I've done it and it's more accurate as you expected. It's also reverse-able if you go the paint route.

P.S.

That way you can also make just a single dot or bead on the sight if you prefer. It's easy to experiment to see what you like best, because you didn't do anything permanent by filing the blade.
