I'm new to posting here. But I have been lurking here for some time.
I just wanted to let you guys know that RWS has a new scope mount they call it the Lock Down. The way that I found out about it was that I have a new RWS 54 (sweet gun) that came with a bad two piece C mount. I called Umarex up and was told that I should of had the one piece mount and that a new mount was on it's way and that if I would wait they could upgrade it to the new Lock Down. I called today and was told that it just came in and they would ship it out to me. I asked what the difference was and was told that it has adjustable elevation more screws on the dove tail two stop screws that are removable and is beefier then the C mount. More good news is that the C mount will no longer be included on guns shipped with scopes. I have a Panther Pro on order (two months now) and was told that they should all be setup with the new Lock Down Mount. Just when PA is coming out with there new mount (I have one of each of those on order with PA also). Umarex says that this is the end of scope problem for all RWS's. we will see.
I have no photos right now because I don't have the mount yet. Umarex says they will be updating the web site soon to show the new Lock Down mount.
At $70 a crack and they used a single screw per side on the rings?[looks like a BKL clone]Leapers has made a Weaver compatable mt that compansates for droop for RWS guns for $17.50 that looks a lot better.Instead of addressing the actual problem with the reciever they invented something to hide it?Harold *******P.A. will have these by Aug sometime
The leapers version has Weaver grooves on the top and a milled overhang for the front of the reciever along with a milled groove at the rear so the bolt head on the top can't hit the mt or shear off.As well it is regulated for the all to common RWS droop and $18.Tom Gaylord was in on this one?Time will tell.It's a shame RWS wouldn't just redesign their recievers like HW's and be done with it.Harold
I got my Lock Down mount a few day ago.So far so good, a strong mount. Make sure to use a good set of allen wrenchs as the ones with the mount fit to loose. The leapper mount from PA looks good to. I have had both on order as well.
