Are these UK pellets available from anywhere here in the USA?
Was trying different types of pellets in my .22 RWS 350 Magnum today and working on getting tighter groups at ~20 yards.
I found an old tin of Eley Wasp 5.6mm .22 pellets in my stuff from about 20 years ago that I bought while living in London. They were a little oxidized (not shiny) but I decided to try them out anyway (I think there were only about 20 or 30 or so left in the tin and I really just wanted to get rid of them).
Because these are 5.6mm caliber pellets (instead of the normal 5.5mm caliber) they were a very tight fit into the breech and I needed to use a pellet seater to get them into place.
However the accuracy and that consistency that I got with these pellets was just completely amazing! It had me laughing out loud. All the pellet holes were in one tiny group that just became a single little finger sized hole after 10 or 15 shots.
None of the wandering and fliers I had seen with other pellets.
It is almost as though the 350 Magnum really loved the extra tight fit of these old 5.6mm caliber pellets.
Now I want to buy some more of these (obviously) - can I get them anywhere here in the USA? Everything here for .22 is of course 5.5mm diameter.
I have been experimenting with silver arrows, JSB Exacts, kodiaks, crow magnums, H&N Diablo Sport, JSB Predator, RWS Hobby, RWS Super-H point, RWS Superpoints and several other expensive and quality pellets to find the best ones.... but nothing else so far has touched these old Eley pellets for grouping and consistent accuracy in this rifle!
Diameter and weight are complementary factors in pellets

Both translate into a "rest inertia"; a "difficulty" to start their travel down the barrel.
English pellets come in 5.6 mm's because at some point the "#2 bore" was not as standardized as it is today and some companies, especially BSA, was still cutting the same barrel for airguns as for .22" LR's. After the idiotic laws came into effect in Albion, some shooters even decided to "convert" their trusty old .22" LR's into airguns, keeping at least the barrel after legally "destroying" the firearm's action therefore keeping a tinge of freedom and dignity.
I think that the same accuracy and consistency could probably be obtained by trying CrowMags, JSB's (5.52 mm's, 18 grains), H&N's Barracuda Match (5.53, 21 grs) or other pellets that come in sorted head size and weigh upwards of 16 grains. Another thing worth trying if you think your barrel has a definite liking for 14 grains of lead is to get some H&N's 5.6 "Rund-Kugeln" or H&N FTT's (5.52, 14.5 grs)
And of course, you can buy a sleeve (50,000 pellets) of the gun's preferred fare and get them shipped from England, when shipped in large quantities, the cost per pellet goes down and, after all, if not accuracy, what are we in this game for?
I have read that eley wasp it has to soft lead for accyracy shooting when shoots them by magnum air guns. The FTT H&N you can find it and in 5,53. Thanks.
