Jim,
Welcom aboard! Remember no question is a problem folks here love the Hobby/Sport and will try and answer and discuss nearly any reasonable requests! Please just give the answers a little time to take shape due to the various time Zones, OK?
Glad to read your write-up on the Ruger! We've all been curious about that one...Please keep us all informed how you and it progress!
I finally got to handle a Ruger a couple weeks ago and I'm pretty impressed with the Chinese! A decent copy and the exterior fit and finish is way above standards of years gone by. They've improved a LOT and I always considered copycating as the best flatttery. I'm pretty sure that the owners of Dianawerk do so also.
The preformance dosen't appear to be to shabby so I think what we might have here is another good clone to mod and play with like the Asian R-9 several Gamo's and the HW/Beeman P-3 TX and CZ Clones (Yes, they even cloned the CZ-TEX for Compassaco).
I sincerely think the ongoing Home Tunes of the AirHawk will benifit Diana 34-38 & 40 owners.Lessons learned and experimentation (as spoken of above) will promote new tricks to be tried andbring fresh thought into the hobby!
Airguns today are world market items and the more variations, the better prices hold on the origonals and many more shoters get exposed to the guns through entering the hobby with bargan priced shooters. These same shooters will no doubt want to upgrade to name brands and probablly the market will continue full of product for all. Given that the U.S. and World economies don't collapse, then hopefully our hobby will remain "affordable".
I know Daisy has contracted with Asian companies to manufacture decent grade ammo and I have hopes that we will also see several decent grade pellets emerge.
Frankilly I used to shun the Asian cloneguns but after owning a couple "Good" 1980's and 1990's guns, I re-thought my position and made room for qualityAsian, Turkish, and Russian competition.
The near future of airgunning is going to be very intresting for SURE!
