I finally got a "project gun" all cleaned up and finished after several years of sitting!!! I purchased this Diana 75U from Jim E. a while back and finally sent it off to Dave Slade to get the action polished and reblued as it was pitted with rust freckles and to get it rebuilt. While it was off with David, I stripped the stock down to get all the years of use massaged out of it, refinishing it with a few coats of RLO.

The action came back the other day while I was finishing up the stock. The metal is night and day better, not quite mint due to the condition of the metal, pitting, that I sent David but man its a mirror finish and black as can be!!!

Here's the before pics from when I bought it:

Here's the refinished gun:

It's amazing in terms of the wood that was lurking under all that finish and built up grease and grime!!!

Can't wait to shoot it and glad its finally restored as a fine classic should be!

Regards,

Tony

Tigerlicious!

 Tony,

 What a nice job!

 The wood is really intresting!

My "Shootin Buddy" ('Ol Jim, 78 yrs and an excellent CenterFire long range Varmiter!) Has the Beeman version that is Scoped with BIG Glass. He refers to his as his "Grasshopper Gun". Seems when the Target Squirrels are down in their holes hiding, he'll shoot anything!

Nevertheless His big Diana is wonderfull! The recoil is totally dampened and the view through the ultra-clear glass stays motionless.

I hope you enjoy this beauty for years!

Absolutely Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tony,

Boy I'll tell ya, that is an absolutely beautiful 75!! -- I really wish that I had mine back.

A bit of advice for you and other 75 owners - every once-and-awhile, remove the gear covers (idler rollers) on each side of the gun and give the threads a nice and gentle wipe down and re-lube them and put them back on CAREFULLY....I've had people send 75's to me where they were cross-threaded....agggggggg!

Lubing them will keep things easy when and if you have to remove them in the future (or have them removed). They require a spanner wrench to remove them properly, but it can be done other ways IF YOU ARE CAREFUL! You can use a strap wrench (rubber strap) to remove the endcap IF you don't have an adjustable pin/spanner wernch that will work with it....but above all other things...GO SLOW AND BE CAREFUL!

Removing and lubing the end cap and the set screw that holds it on is a good idea too. IF it has been a long time since this was done, if it has ever been done at all in the life of the gun, these parts may be tight or frozen...if you lack the proper tools and experience, it may be better to just let them stay as they are.

These little Giss-type guns are simply beautiful and 10 Meter tack drivers that are a true pleasure to own and shoot!!

Again, you have a simply beautiful gun and the stock work that you did is fantastic - great job Tony!!
