I'm new here. Got new 54 and already have about 800 shots through it with open sights. Got 1 ground hog and 4 chipmunks so far...
If money wasn't an issue (well - let's cap it at $400-500) what would you choose for following:
1. Hunting (not shooting further then 60-70 yards)
2. Target practicing Up to 50 yards but lot's of shooting in basement at 10 yards
3. I want LIGHT and SMALL scope.
4. Clicker(not sure if they differ) Maybe ability to reset 0? I plan on being "clicker" but I do like to have Mil-dots just in case I change my mind. I'm just learning, so maybe I won't like it.
I picked Leupold 3-9 but not sure if x9 will be enough. Maybe I should get 4200 Elite or something? But they huge and start at 6x which may be bad for 10 meter shooting.
What would you pick. I really like something quality and compact. But not to weak for longer shots.
I do not own a 54 yet... but own several 48/52's (which are very similar in many respects to the 54)in all 4 calibers and my preferred scope is BSA 2-7x32
they are inexpensive, small, lightweight, short, (important for side and underlevers) and have great clear image. I am systematically putting them on all my Dianas.
I have taken everything from sparrows to groundhogs using these scopes and I frequently shoot dandelion stalks, they can be that finely tweaked. I highly recommend them for your 54.
You have heard of using your Diana's for Pest Control, I use mine for Weed Control.
