I am in search of a tuner who can make a Hot Rod out of my FWB300S.It seems to have lost a lot of power and its not shooting as good as it used too.I took a look at the works and decided it is past my knowledge at tearing down a air gun.
(to many slides and anti recoil for me)So I figured while it has to be taken apart anyway why not make a hunter out of it.
Please shoot me a e-mail if you know what to do and know what I mean as far as a hot rod FWB300S=700+fps or so.

Hi Bob,
I'd get Randy Bimrose to install one of Jim's springs with a rebuild. It will do 8FP plus.
Just my opinion!

Why?

The 300S is a 10m match rifle, not really designed to handle that kind of power. Its intended to shoot at 585 fps give or take a bit. The only way to power it up is to put a bigger spring in it, and that will put a lot of stress on the cocking links. Since those links are not designed to handle a heavy spring, they will fail. Additionally, if you were to replace the stock spring with a powerhouse spring you'll be overpowering the piston seal. The 300 doesn't have a regular seal like most spring rifles, but rather has a metal sealing ring like the piston in an internal combustion motor, with a plastic bumper on the front of the piston. Overpowering the piston in this case will cause the piston to slam into the end of the compression chamber, crushing that bumper and eventually damaging the chamber. A good rebuild using stock parts might get you into the 600s, some I have seen close to 650. Other than that stuffing a big spring into one of these guns is not really recommended. JM did a few a long time ago, but he did more than a simple spring swap.

The FWB 300 is too good a gun to mess around with more powerful springs.
It was designed with 10 metre performance in mind and its stroke/swept volume is limited to deliver in those terms.
I would leave that good gun alone and enjoy it for what it is meant to be.
Get a Diana 54 if you want more oomph with good accuracy!
That's just my honest opinion.
