for .22 it appears you're out of luck. I'm looking for a .177 so I'm good there. I guess I'd really prefer a .22, but not one less powerfull than my 48...The 34 comes in .22 and its essentially the same gun. I also dont like that some of the versions come only in the combo, which I also dont want. Whats up with not just offering the guns w/o a scope and why on earth would they not be in both calibers??
The power plants should be the same. With the PRO's muzzle brake the barrel length is actually longer than the regular barrels. The Compacts are shorter. This allows the pellet to leave the barrel quicker with less interference from recoil and should be slightly more accurate than full length barrels. This why many people cut and choke their barrels. I saw these on the Diana site quite a while before any U.S. sites and on Diana's site the do come in .22. Might be worth waiting for.
I've got a PRO and can tell you that the quality of this gun is wow. And I have a 54 as well. But every time I pull out my new PRO I just sit there looking at how well this gun is put together. And shooting, well it's a Diana and it just hit the mark. Cold bore three shot groups touching or better at 35 yard. And as for barrel length the muzzle brake is a barrel weight and is only .25" longer than the barrel.
