I have been considering an R7 as a low powered plinker for a while. While cruising the internet stores I ran across an HW 30 for $199. I decided to go for it instaed of the R7. I got a call fom the vendor saying the price was a mistake and it now cost him more than that. He had a new R7 in stock that he had bought at an old price and he offered me that instaed. Bottom line is I have a brand new Beeman R7 on the way to me for $199.00. This is a case where the scope and mount may be more than I spent on the rifle.

 James,

GREAT buy! You're gonna love it!

I just got a Beeman HW-30 myself, nice little rifle! Very much like the hotrod Model-25D that I built last yr. Both shoot near 650 to near 700 with different pellets and both are very good shooters @ 20 yards. I believe 30 yards is about their pratical limit and their Hunting ranges would be near 20-25 yards for small game. I just Plink and Target shoot so that's only an estimate tho...

The latest version of the 30 is almost an R-7 because it comes with the Reckord Trigger, the long style Forearm, and a soft red rubber Buttplate! Missing still is the checkering and I dunno which sight group the 7 comes with? The HW-30 came with a plastic Fuber-Optic sight and a standard metal insert in the front. I paid $193.00  (on sale, with their discount)  from PA for mine.

Have fun with your new toy!

Thanks ZVP, I plan to.
I have a set of Beeman 5030M rings and a Hawke 3-9x40 on the way to use with it.

It finally arrived yesterday. I decided to put the new 3-9x40 on my 350 and I put the 350's 2-7x32 on the new R7. Shooting them side by side to zero in the scopes was a trip. Talk about two different rifles. They are both highly accurate and fun to shoot. The R7 seems like it will be the perfect lightweight plinker/paper puncher. Variety truly is the spice of life.

Keep us informed....

about your R7 adventure! I've been looking hard at several Model 34 versions, but recently was intrigued by the R7. It gets rave reviews in the accuracy and quality department, although is a bit under powered compared to the 34.....I'll be interested in what you have to say!

After shooting her for a week I can tell you that everybody should have an R7. It is the easiest to shoot rifle I have ever came across. The cocking effort is nill. If you can't shoot an R7 all day long and enjoy it you need to be shooting a water pistol from the candy store. The rave reviews are warranted in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and go get one. I did not buy it for the power obviously. If it's power you need go with the 34 you mention. If it's accuracy, fit and finsish and fun your after try the R7. As you know you can't have too many airguns. Get both!

I'm kind of hung up....

October 2 2008, 6:28 PM

on the combination of power AND accuracy together. I've shot plenty of "low" powered pellet rifles lacking accuracy. While I know and understand that the "low" powered guns, if accurate, will take care of most of my needs, I really want both...Not sure what I'll do but your input is well recieved and I will keep it in mind.

Thanks!
