At Pyramid and Airgun Wharehouse I find two different piston seals, both listed as: RWS Piston Seal Model number 000317 And: RWS Piston Seal for model 3/20 Model number 30309800. Does anyone know if either of these is for the 48/52?
-Thanks, McGinty
Neither of those seals fit the RWS 52, the seal used on the model 52 is number 300716, that is the Diana part# for the seal your gun uses. Pyramyd air does not have these seal listed as far as I know. The options are to go to Umarex for a seal or another vendor. I use the orignal factory seals as the blue material that is in the Diana guns originally for the piston seal is of nice quality, the red seals to me tend to be a harder material the aftermarket seals are of red color usually and I feel the blue material is a bit better that Diana uses in their guns.
The ONLY place I could find to order the breech seal was from Umarex. Go to the Umarexusa.com web site to find contact info. They also have parts diagrams for all their products. You can also cross reference with parts diagrams a pyramydair.com web site if you're unsure which part is what. I believe the breech seal is part 19 - 303621. Good luck. In my experience you simply have to keep calling Umarex until you get to a person. When you can finally talk to someone, they will take your order and it will be processed very quickly. If you leave a message and wait for someone to call you it may take a week or more for them to get back to you. BTW - the seals are not expensive. I suggest you order several and browse their web site to see if there is anything else you might want to order at the same time since shipping is rather dear everywhere. When I ordered my seals, I had the parts in hand about four days after placing the order. What I got was small and came USPS.
Just got my breech seals from Umarex the breech seal for the model 52 is #303621. I didn't even need the number to order, just told the gentleman that I needed breech seals for the model 52. I received them within 5 days. They cost $4. and change, actual mailing cost was $1.17 their handling cost was $6. and change. I needed one, I am glad I ordered 4 so I would have extra for all 3 of my sidelevers . Otherwise one seal would have cost over $12.00, I got 4 seals for $6. and change each. .
As far as the JM APEX seals I changed mine in my .177 and .22, they feel about the same material wise as stock. The JM may be a little stiffer? The .22 seal I changed was from a brand new gun less than 5 shots through it. I checked its sealing abilities compared to an old used JM APEX seal and the APEX seal felt tighter in the compression chamber than the new RWS seal. Just be aware that the open end of the compression tube has sharp edges, knock off the sharp edges with a smooth stone or 400 grit wet & dry sandpaper so you don't cut your new piston seal seal.
I don't know of any other place for the breech seal than UMAREX. I plan on ordering some more JM Apex seals to keep on hand, I believe they are superior to the stock ones, IMHO.
