just got my new 350 mag last week, was shooting good, but spring was making creaking noise.took stock off today to look at spring,it was bone dry.pulled barrel down a little to listen to where noise was coming from. the 2 piece linkage pivoted away from gun a little, opened barrel back up,pushed linkage back against chamber, lower end slipped out of slot on spring end.put back in slot, then attemted to cock again.would only cock about half way and no farther, seemed to be binding up.put stock back on and same thing, will only travel about halfway, then binds up.can't see anyting wrong.could it have done something when linkage popped away from gun as i pulled barrel down?only pulled it down a little ways before stopping to correct linkage, any help would be appreciated joe.d

you may have to check to see that the piston

is not turned so the cocking slot does not line up. or the cocking shoe could
be disengaged from the piston and is sliding between the piston and the action tube causing it to bind. first, make sure the slot in the piston is lined up correctly with the slot in the action tube. after that i don't know. this is based on a general air rifle anatomy since i don't have a 350.

Joe, Maybe something to check.

I read your post earlier and have been trying to figure it out. First you have the slot in the piston where the cocking foot slides. The cocking foot is the end of the cocking arm that goes into the piston. Okay, inside of the piston is a thin steel tube that sheilds the main spring so the cocking foot and the spring don,t come into contact with each other. You,ll have to look to see if the cocking foot made a dent in the sheet metal tube when it came out of the slot on a hard angle. If there is a dent in the tube it will bind up the main spring as you try to cock it. It happened to me once years ago with a 350 mag. Its the only conclusion I can come up with right now short of something breaking inside. The cocking foot is not designed to come out that way and it almost had to make some room to pop out. The thin sheet metal tube would then be the weakest movable part. Unfortunately the rifle will have to be dis-assembled so the tube can be straightened out. If you need assistance email me. If this is your first air rifle please just don,t try to take it apart without a spring compressor. The 350 mag. has one of the highest spring preloads of any magnum air rifle.

The noise you heard before is probably the rifle being brand new and being very absent of proper lubes. Diana still makes a quality rifle, they,ve just forgotten how to lube them before the leave the factory. John

the cocking shoe is in the cocking slot and is pushing spring back just short of cocking.and yes,the shoe did pull up the end of slot in metal tube slightly. This must be the problem,Thanks for the help.don,t know if i should send it to umerex ,would like to have it tuned, really a nice rifle
